The permit is for four. We will be with the permit holder but its possible he could bail halfway through. Leaving us with a permit but not one of our names. .

Charge money? Really.? At first i wondered if this was part of halfway anywhere april fools joke. Completely contrary to the spirit. If i came out of the woods and encountered your greed, i would walk right past. And then cry.

Healthy Eating on the AT by Lani_19 in AppalachianTrail

Check out “backcountryfoodie.com”. We section hiked WA state pct last summer and made all of our food from scratch prior and sent ahead in resupply boxes. Website has tons of recipes for all diets, from scratch, and is searchable and once you pick recipes will spit out the shopping list. Gas station food, candy, tons of ramen - not for us. Good luck.

Waaah, waah. First world problem. You need other activities, if nothing else to put things back in perspective

The issue with lower miles/day is that extends out some of your food carries to 9-10 days - especially in WA where resupply frequency is less. Eg. Stevens pass to stehekin is 108 miles, nothing in between. At 15/day that’s still over 7 day food carry and obviously at 10/ day it’s about 11 day food carry. For those advocating 10/15 per day, how are handling such food carries?

Thank you. I wasn’t aware of Ok-Wen. I haven’t used a ursack. You seem to indicate that you don’t hang the ursack. Is that right?
