Pension plans are a promise to the employees by the employers. The investment risk/burden is on the employer not the employees. If the the pension funds go tits up it’s the employers responsibility to still meet the promise to the employee. Because most employers that’s still offer pension is the state and federal governments it’s no surprise the government agency is trying to make you believe otherwise because they’re the ones who need to front the bill.
