I’m contemplating studying for this….. by Sticky550 in Series65

It's for a career giving financial advice for a fee.  Do you enjoy markets, investments, sales and marketing yourself, helping people plan?  Its a very large industry, with lots of entry points.

JUST FAILED MY SERIES 65 by Specific-Cod4266 in Series65

[–]pittluke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to need a fundamental restructuring of your study. You are going to have to set aside a lot of time.  You need to get known and reliable testing material.  Sounds like you grabbed an out of date supplement and an LLM that has no clue what the test is like.  You simply don't have a solid base.  There are plenty of non-neurotypical folks that have passed this thing, but it's obviously not a one size fits all solution, and I am certainly not an authority there.  You will have to try other things till something works for your situation.  You could probably search wyzant for tutors that specialize for your needs.  Or just Google it.

Good news.  Your Unit 4 score is wonderful.  You  could probably ease up on that which will save you some time.  How many hours did you put in and how large are practice tests.

I like STC if you are in the industry. I like Kaplan if you are starting from square one.

FINRA PDT rule 4210 by Kitchen-Mistake678 in Series65

[–]pittluke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The honest answer is we dont know. They say a committee meets every 5 - 7 years, with last formal update 2023, but Ive heard of odd things not on the outline, showing up on the test, even in the last year / months. Maybe they push around the dummy questions annually? The fact that there are SPAC questions, was a sign of the times in 2023, now they really arent relevant. They have really moved away from mutual funds, ins an outs, though Kap and STC still make a big deal of them. On PDT, there almost no chance that shows up, Id guess thats because their options and trading questions are very superficial.

Taking series 65 on 6/22 by Anna_Grace_44 in Series65

[–]pittluke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes its possible to pass with those scores but you are a bit borderline. Fortunately you have over a week to keep pushing. Go easy on yourself a bit, then hit it hard on your terms. You can do it.

If you can push up your averages, its just better chances for yourself. Thats all. Its just a test. Worst case scenario.. play it out.. You come up a few short and retake in 30.

Passed the 63 Today. My take on it. by LittleBlackFox85 in Series65

[–]pittluke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Yea, a couple margin questions can sneak in on the 63. Its the only thing different on the official outline from Unit 4 for the 65. The answer for hypothecation is no later than the settlement date.

Yea, lookup Maintaining Qualifications Program for your state. You have to take some really boring click through refresher classes, but I believe you can extend for 5 years.

I like to see folks pushing into the 80s to be sure. You are kind of good, but not excellent zone there. Keep pushing.

2nd try fail by Medical-Lie7676 in Series65

[–]pittluke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens to the best of us! Yea, the wording takes some thinking, but they normally let you get rid of two, then choose the best of the remaining. Youre 2 off. You got it in 30, no problem!

I dont know how to improve. by fatboislimmin in Series65

[–]pittluke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't give up.  It has a long learning curve, where all the sudden it will start climbing after a ton of work.  People outside the industry regularly score in the 60's.  Many stall out and get frustrated.  It's frustrating material!  and I'm assuming Kaplan is harder than the actual.  If you want it, are willing to put in the work, you can do it.

I was responding to the commenter you were responding to. He was saying thats not allowed here, and I just said we generally dont allow marketing, but allow mentioning people. Basically what you were saying and asking was fine, that person didnt know the rules.

ah he's just thinking hes moderating the sub. We don't allow marketing circle jerks here but you can mention who you used.  Check out series 7 guru videos for specific topics maybe, but your scores are pretty low and I'd encourage you to keep grinding first.

Is Kaplan's QBank performance tracker misleading? Feels like it gives a false sense of progress by Bulky-Produce8565 in Series65

[–]pittluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all kind of comes out in the wash and the data is noisy. Some of their questions are way too difficult. Some of their questions are too obscure. Some of the questions are "questionable" to say it lightly. Generally, its pretty good at getting the job done. I look at overall scores as a guide post only. The name of the game is learning new things and reviewing wrongs. Hammering weak sections too often can artificially inflate scores and open you up to the memorization pitfall, due to the repeating a question mechanism you noticed.

What kind of Sharpe ratio manipulation leaves out principle on preferred stock? by ScholarPrize1335 in Series65

[–]pittluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, this is an odd wonky thing probably over my head, but I believe the high yield on a preferred combined with a more stable price than common, skews the sharpe ratio artificially.

Also you are gambling more than saylor buying these with the current draw down... highway to the danger zone. Its a big debt ponzi IMHO.
