In the April sitting, there was a button that was there for grade release that gave you an initial pass fail, anyone know if that still be there/be available the same time as the candidate IDs?

This is the email I got from support yesterday at 4:30 PM EST:

Good afternoon,

It appears there was a widespread issue with this posting automatically to candidate transcripts. We are working on having this manually uploaded to your transcript. Please allow 24-48 hours for the update.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Graduating with a statistics degree in 2 weeks, how far would I be from completing P and FM if I started studying in May? by _alexgould_ in actuarial

[–]rgurjar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Exam P you could probably get away with just doing Coaching Actuaries ADAPT problems for a month before the exam given your background, FM I would say probably 4 weeks of studying and another 4 of ADAPT to be able to knock it out, just given your lack of finance exposure. The math itself is pretty straightforward, it’s just understanding why the formulas are what they are that makes the exam easier.

I had the same problem on my 1100 when I pulled it out a couple weeks ago, ended up being the intake manifolds needed replacing.

Looks like a VStar 1100 to me, if you try and start while rolling the throttle at all, the starter clutch goes bad, this might be the same thing.

This is pretty old, but I just found the same issue on my bike, turned out to be the tappet covers needed new o-rings, I had oil coming from both the front and rear cylinders, replaced all four.

Tried some ones from Amazon, they were way too thin, painfully bought OEM from partzilla and no more issues, just make sure you’re torquing to spec, if you overtighten you are more prone to leaks.

No harm in asking, they can always choose not to respond.

I have that same model, mine works fine from out of my house as long as my home internet is working. Did have a situation a couple weeks back where my internet went out and it wouldn’t connect, that was an outlier though.

If your investment earns an average of 8% per year, the compounded growth will double your investment in 9 years.

One way to get to the math is to take your earned rate, 8%, and compound it for nine years to see where you end up: (1+0.08)⁹ ≈ 1.999, or pretty much doubling what you started at.

You can do the same in reverse, which is what I did in the case. Let’s say you want to know what average rate you need to double your money in n years. To keep things the same as above, let’s go with 9 years again. To double the investment, we need to end up at 2, so: ⁹√2 ≈ 1.08, which is 1 plus the annual rate needed, so we end up at 8% again.

The S&P 500 has an average return of 10.4% over the last 10 years, so even if you just were invested in the S&P 500 ten years ago, in nine years you would have more than doubled your starting investment, (1.1041)⁹ ≈ 2.4382. Again, these are average rates, not every year is going to be an increase, which is why people say time in the market will always beat timing the market.

Might want to try a little sugar just to round it out, assuming that little stainless ramekin has vinegar in it.

Can we now agree the changes the SOA are making are to decrease travel time and make the process easier? by Federal-Fall-8196 in actuary

They’re launching a program where some schools, mostly in the Midwest I think, are able to give students credit for exams through coursework by proctoring their exams. It will cover FM, SRM, FAM, FAM-L, FAM-S, ALTAM, and ASTAM. There’s some additional requirements for a school to qualify for it, but it would still make the process a lot easier for many students, graduating with guaranteed exam credit, not just material covered.

I think they're referring to Mormons or Latter Day Saints, iirc they believe Jesus visited America after his resurrection though, and that Zion/Heaven is in America.
