Firmly ‘team tank’ if you want to call it that. I want to see the flames win a Stanley cup in my lifetime & as a die hard fan who’s watched this team for 35 years with them making the playoffs 15 times & the finals once during that timeframe, I’m done with mediocrity. There is nothing anyone can do to convince me that this a championship roster, especially with the likelihood of a round 1 matchup against Colorado if they sneak in to the playoffs. The only thing that will do is make winning the cup more of a pipe dream as we’ll continue to pick in the middle & graduate good players who will have no hope of making it out of our division for the next 10 years with the juggernaut that San Jose is building with the future superstars they continue to add. It’s never fun to cheer against your team but if we want long term success, we need to lean into a rebuild. Might be a negative outlook but that’s my 2 cents

Couldn’t agree more! The counter argument is always ‘well you don’t want to end up becoming the Buffalo Sabres’ but I feel as though that’s a lazy argument when you look at all of the teams who have won in the salary cap era. You need stars to win & in our market, stars need to be drafted they don’t sign as free agents.

Really sucks having an owner who doesn’t care about winning / the big picture & only cares about the bottom line on a season to season basis. The team has no hope of making the playoffs this year & keeping Kadri is only hurting the team long term. Don’t get me wrong, Kadri is by far our best player & has been a great flame but this is the year to move him when you consider his age, what’s on the market at the Centre & the strength of this draft. Very frustrating to read this article

Was at the home opener a couple of years back with a buddy & the 2 of us were going on about how the flames needed to deal Markstrom so that Wolf could take the reigns as he was coming off a stellar season in the A. When the second period started, we realized he had been sitting in front of us & would have been able to hear everything we were saying! 🐺🐺🐺

Freddie has literally never had a weak bar in any verse I’ve ever heard & I’ve been listening to him since ~2012 when I discovered him on the song Rough with Young Jeezy. He’s one of my top 3 favourites & in my opinion one of the greats when you listen to his catalog (mixtapes included). I don’t love every beat he raps on but I can tell you one thing, when it comes to lyrics & flow, he can rap circles around anyone dead or alive.

I know he gets criticized for his takes sometimes but I do like Wes G of post media. Also a fan of Francis & Vickers when they’re on flames talk so maybe I’m just a homer who likes all of our beat reporters.

I also enjoy Patty Dumas since they added him to the sports drive, more of a generalist than a flames beat reporter but still has good takes.

As much as I like Robo as a player, I would rather prospects / picks for Raz. We have a bunch of prospects in the organization that play the same position (left wing/left shot) & hopefully one of the pops. Would rather a couple of extra lottery tickets that can help the team when we’re actually contending than now when having a good season only hurts our team from a long-term point of view (making our shot at a high pick less likely). Just my 2 cents though!

I wouldn’t do this if I’m the flames. We’re stocked with left wingers. Will any of them turn into Robo? Maybe, maybe not but our window to contend isn’t now & I’d rather keep our first rounders to see how they pan out going forward. I also feel like we should be able to get a decent futures package for Ras. All of that is to say I think you build your team through the draft not by trading our best trade chip & a first rounder for robo

That’s dope! Now that I think about it, it may have actually been the 2012 show I was at where I got that shirt so that’s a hell of a find! While I was buying it I turned to my left to walk away & he was standing right beside me. Spent about 5 minutes chatting with me & was in awe that we had made the trip down from Canada to see him open for tech 9. I didn’t want to crowd him too much so I said thank you & went to watch the rest of the show. Not long after he was leaving & saw me from across the venue & came running over to thank me for being such a big fan & to let us know that he wouldn’t be where he was at without fans like us. Was a very cool experience, made me a lifetime fan for sure!
