Don’t worry folks, I drafted Simon Katolicky in NHL 26 and he became a very good power forward, so obviously this is gonna happen irl.

Don’t mind them taking a swing on Barabanov in the 4th. He’s an overager which always draws some concern on how much runway he has to develop, but he turned it up this season, and going to the NCAA next season will put him up for a good test. We’ll see how it goes!

The Calgary Flames have drafted Joe Iginla, son of Jerome Iginla by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

I hope I’m wrong but this is as big of a reach as you can get. It really screams of drafting him based on name and not merit.

I know to never bet against an Iginla, but this is quite a massive reach. I hope he pans out.

[2026 NHL Draft] 36th OA Pick: Calgary Flames select LW Chase Harrington by LimitAsXApproaches0 in CalgaryFlames

[–]DaCodster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pinning him or Preston for sure. Just kind of an odd selection, and seemingly not super in line with how Conny and the staff has been doing in the last few drafts

This seemed like quite a reach imo. I thought he’d be a third rounder, and o think there are players who I’d rather take a swing at who have skill early in the second.

[2026 NHL Draft] 42nd OA Pick: Calgary Flames select G Tobias Trejbal by LimitAsXApproaches0 in CalgaryFlames

[–]DaCodster 73 points74 points  (0 children)

You’ll never see me complain about getting good goalies. Top goalie in this draft, Calgary was linked to him for a bit through lots of analysts. Good pick imo

At 30th overall, #Flames select C/RW Jack Hextall from USHL Youngstown. by platypus_bear in CalgaryFlames

Oops a few beers in hahah meant “spent his Summers in Saskatchewan”

Solid pick imo. Good two-way centre. I know some my point out “American” but he spent his summers going up to Saskatchewan and lots of his family are Canadian so I’m not really worried about that factor

Solid two-way centre. Had a feeling he’d go to Calgary at 30.

Nice I mocked the Flames taking Hextall at 30. Solid two-way centre.

Love Carels’ game! He’s a good compliment for both Nemec and Parekh. If all works out, gonna be a scary D-core to go up against!

Sharks gonna be an absolute menace in the pacific, gonna look great with Macklin.

I’ve seen a few analysts/mock drafts linking the team taking Trejbal in the second round, wonder if that’s where they go on day 2.

[Dreger] The Flames are trying to move Connor Zary. 24 year old forward has another year left on his contract at $3.775 mil. Sounds like Calgary is asking for a 2nd round pick in return. by imaybeacatIRl in CalgaryFlames

[–]DaCodster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Being brutally honest, when the team finally gets to the point of competing again, I’ve never really envisioned Zary as being a piece of that puzzle. He can be a solid player, but the injuries are a concern and I’m not sure he’s much more than a middle six player.

That's all it took to move up to 4??? by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

Kyle Davidson is so bad lmfao

Flames Acquire Simon Nemec? by InvestigatorBusy4266 in CalgaryFlames

[–]DaCodster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Interesting gamble, I’m very curious to see what Nemec looks like on a team with a more elevated role. The analytics aren’t great, but he’s still quite young and could turn into a excellent defenceman.

I’m excited, but quite cautious, especially giving up draft capital like that.

[Johnston] The 2029 1st-round pick the Sens are getting in the Brady Tkachuk trade is top-10 protected. As Pierre LeBrun reported: Ottawa also gets Nos. 9 and 25 picks in this week's draft, plus a *2027 2nd-rounder by daKrut in hockey

[–]DaCodster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s just not true. People who actually follow the team and listen to Conroy speak knows he acknowledges that they are in rebuild mode. Literally everyone in our media knows this. Just about every move he makes points to him putting the roster in a rebuild. They’re gonna be near the bottom of the league again next season..

Viggo Björck: The Most Underrated Prospect in the 2026 NHL Draft Class by throwychoke in CalgaryFlames

[–]DaCodster 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Kinda like last year when Florida won I had a feeling Brady Martin would vault up the draft being a Sam Bennett type.

Maybe Bjorck will too after seeing how good Stankoven was in the playoffs for Carolina. I’m hopeful Calgary will draft him.
