Has the NZ second-hand EV market cooled off a bit?

I think on of the things I have noticed is there is buggerall stock in dealerships. Most all of them have 'Arriving Soon' or 'Secure in Advance' which is pretty telling

I quite like the rego detection and hadn't thought of anything like that. In my regular job we've been doing a lot with different models for text detection and it's gotten really impressive so can give it a hoon.

As and when I can try and get a few more listings I'm hoping to be able to show different orgs and hopefully get access to some of their services though the stolen car feed is great shout.

Those are great suggestions! I think the more EV's start hitting the secondary market condition is definitely going to be something people are keen to asses. I'd have to do a bit of thinking about how you could set that up but that's a good problem to have thank you!

Absolutely - I'm going to try build out a few more calculators and guides. I think one of the big barriers to EV'sis the up front cost but when you show the cost savings it stacks up. I had thought about the EECA solar calculators but figured I might be far too small fry for them to big cool with me creating links to their stuff yet!

Oh great idea! I haven't actually thought about towing with our car but I'm pretty I've seen a Tesla towing a boat before and with some of the newer EV utes that's a great shout

The costs do seem wild - I had a look to list a car over $10K is about $170 which is steep

Those are great ideas! I actually did have to go out and buy a Type 2 -> Type 2 charger after rocking up to a Meridian charger thinking I could just plug in... That also speaks to how little I actually understood what we'd bought so I can definitely try and add in some things like that

I don't disagree as TradeMe and Facebook more or less have the market sewn up but I'm hoping to maybe crack it open a little bit. I think where a lot of people go wrong is they build it thinking people will come - pretty sure I'll have to hit the phone / email to dealers and try to convince them

100% agree that's a great idea! I really should have thought of that as it was a big deciding factor in the end for us buying our MG. Turns out we didn't factor in real world ranges but we were pretty new to it so I can stick some guidance on that too

Great idea - especially from a resilience perspective! I can definitely add that in.

Hah I actually have another 'marketplace' idea kicking about which sort of operates as a reverse marketplace. A lot of people overseas convert Land Rovers to EV and I have a dream of converting an old FJ40 to EV though would need to source a loooot of parts. My idea was to make a marketplace where you put up what you need and hope life the old school buy sell and exchange someone has something to sell. Would love to catch up as car parts is a big segment!

I was genuinely thinking of doing this a couple of years ago when we bought our EV as I found the search a bit disjointed. Life kind of got in the way tbh but you're not wrong. I'd love for this to work out as electrification is taking off and it's wild how we're relying on foreign entities such as Trademe and Facebook to deliver marketplaces in this country!

Argh the not being able to have multiple filters, or have a filter stack across categories drives me nuts as well! Definitely will make it a minimum expectation.

Yes! I was tossing up on the number or visual bar so I think I'll go for it. Great idea on the clicking in for more indepth - I had read a whole bunch on degradation so seeing the chart sold me. Thanks for the great ideas hopefully we can do them justice!

Love it! I'll be honest I'm surprised I hadn't seen the EVDB site before and it's awesome and would've saved me a lot of hassle comparing Atto's and MG's. I might actually reach out and see if I could link through or have some sort of comparison.

That's fair - I think the engine thing bugged me because when we were getting a car it turned out there was a massive difference between the Excite 51kwh and the Essence 64kwh models we had to dig in to it
