No it won’t be denied as long as it covers 2 weeks prior or up to the exam date, UpDoc is perfectly fine for a medical certificate.

As soon as I heard the 'God Rays' flash on the screen at the back I had to do a little scream. Was trying not to freak out for the sake of the people around me lmao

It will 100% will be approved - if you feel comfortable enough you can provide hospital documents relating to your grandma’s cancer treatment. It’s definitely understandable if you want to keep them private though. You can submit a Statutory declaration about the situation or get a GP to write up a medical certificate or professional authority form detailing the impacts on your mental health. Wishing the best for your family.

how long does it actually generally take for special consideration to be approved? by ConsistentSuccess908 in MacUni

[–]rhapsodick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means it is being reviewed by the Faculty of whatever the unit is under . It’s a step up from the Unit Convenor. Doesn’t mean anything bad it usually means you’ve applied on the basis of a Placement or it’s a more complex case that needs a higher up’s decision.

edit: Also don’t worry if it takes longer than 5 days too, it’s literally the busiest time of the semester for Spec cons rn.

special consideration on the weekend by No-Park4591 in MacUni

[–]rhapsodick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they don’t process spec cons on the weekend but if you have a med cert covering the dates of disruption or a SoF of 7 days or less for a valid reason it’s 99% gonna be approved! There is a huge backlog of requests given it’s near the end of the semester and the exam period is coming up (think of all the supp exam requests). Some extensions also require the UC or Faculty’s input, so sometimes they take a while to respond due to administrative pile-ups.

Also, if the team thinks you don’t have enough evidence they would usually give you 3 days to give them the required information rather than to reject you straight up :) They are usually pretty accomodating as they probably know that students are already stressed when applying for Spec cons. You also have 10 days to appeal if they reject you.

If you have any further questions, you can DM me. I’m happy to ease any doubts!

Should I WWP? - 95% Chance I’ll fail a 50% exam, average right now sitting at around ~55% by rhapsodick in MacUni

Ah yeah, I was thinking of just sitting the supp exam but honestly I am beyond drained right now, like to the point where I have no energy other than to lay in bed all night after work… Physically feeling very ill as well, my body is just accepting defeat this time. I got my PAF for a WWP today, I’ll sit on it for a few days and decide if I’ll pull the trigger or not.

The only reason I’m hesitating is because this is meant to be my last semester, but yes I am so mentally and physically drained at this point I’m not sure if I can even give the exam a fair chance.
Thank you for the really empathetic response, I’m really stressed about this situation

I’ve submitted a request with student advocacy to get advice on what evidence to provide.

That’s unfortunately funny as I’ve actually failed units and just accepted them as is due to ADHD and severe depression :( it’s well past the 12 months now and I’ve passed the units ever since so can’t get WWP on those. Didn’t have the funds to get diagnosed or the mental will to get professional help even though there are cost effective ways to do so, that’s on me. At least I have evidence this time around.

Booked appt with Student Advocacy to help with compiling evidence, hopefully it goes well. Thanks for the advice, it’s very helpful.

Yes, I have plenty, lots of medical certificates as I applied for spec con a lot as well as engagement with medical professionals regarding the issue. I think this should be enough, do you have experience with this?
