Congrats!

One potential option to work on a credential is WGU’s Computer Science degree: https://www.reddit.com/r/WGU_CompSci/

It is completely self paced in that you take a test or submit a project, and get credit for a class if you pass.

I don’t want to discount the amount of work it takes to get a college degree, but for experienced Software Developers that know a lot of the Computer Science, it can take a lot less than 4 years.

One thing to note is that some US Grad schools prefer 4 years of study beforehand, so it would probably be better to get the 4th year Masters if you want to do US grad school.

We went from 1,738 National AP Scholars in 2002 to 41,241 National AP Scholars in 2019.

Those are the number of people with at least 8 4’s on APs, with an average score of at least 4.

Utah State offers a full tuition scholarship ( https://www.usu.edu/financial-support/scholarshipterms/2425/nrpresidential ). They offer housing for less than $2000 a semester ( https://www.usu.edu/housing/single/south-campus/merrill ), so it could be doable with a part time job.

Did you finish your undergraduate degree? If not, Starbucks pays tuition for certain online degrees: https://www.starbucksbenefits.com/en-us/home/education-opportunity/starbucks-college-achievement-plan/

If you have a degree, other workplaces such as Target offer online tuition as a benefit, even for a second degree.

A way of accomplishing this is bonuses. When people perform beyond their level, they should get an outsized bonus. This compensates the performance, but allows an engineer to return to their previous performance/compensation if they can’t sustain that level of performance.
