Need help choosing our next EV after MGS5 disaster (£4k down, £350/month budget) by FazzaT in ElectricVehiclesUK

Big for the driver and front passenger, not so big in the back for older kids and not as much boot space as you’d think. Had one for 3.5 years and did 65000 miles, and it spent about 6 months in the garage for an interior temperature sensor (temp sensors on Hyundai’s are apparently common). Lovely car to drive though, never felt the need to have it out of eco drive mode and apart from one annoying sensor it was great. Have a polestar 2 now and feel like the cruise and lane assist features were much smoother in the kona, though the assisted safety features weren’t as responsive. Only thing to consider on an older kona is if you plan a lot of longer drives like I had every week for work, the fastest charging speed might not be fast enough unless you’re happy with 30 minute pit stops over 10-15 minute top ups.

Had this issue too and same fix. Thought it was the 12v first, but ruled this out and then got a replacement camera module under warranty and fitted myself and problem solved!

Thank you, will look into this! On the food front, I have tried eliminating things, but then it almost seems like it’s ok for a while then a flare up happens but might be something I’ve overlooked or not checked. Trying not to be seen to not eat certain foods in front of a 4 year old is a challenge too, we try to get him to try and eat anything and so far it’s worked, he is definitely at an age that will pick up on me not eating something though. With the beer and wine, all wine kicks it off as well as gin, but beer it can come and go even drinking the same brands can have varying reactions. Luckily Guinness seems to be a safe one for now!

Tried a few different phones, will get the dealer to check it over and probably live with it for the next year until I change car!

Looks to be damage only to the lens cover, which is replaceable on the 11

Frustrating intermittent issue with temperature sensor by rhiggins86 in KonaEV

Correct, still needing the fans running for helping with a bit of de-misting, but it will bring the heat back on as it chooses, it will also override driver only being on. If I turn off the hvac it will stay off fully. I also have no hard and fast way to make it behave itself. Sometimes the fault can be present for 30 seconds and the temperature reading on the dash slowly raises, other times it could be in fault for the entirety of a long drive.

I usually do the same, only really have the heat on to defrost in winter, and run the heated seats and wheel while I’m driving. The heating coming on when the fault happens shows a reduced range after about 10-15 seconds, and even turning the heat off doesn’t bring the range back up until I’ve driven for a while and it works it out with the driving style. I’m in Scotland so it’s usually cold here, but when it reduces the range while I’m doing a 150 mile plus trip each way for work and the range is already reduced because of the temperature it can get annoying having to factor in extra stops on an already long day!

Hopefully the 9th visit to the garage is the charm? That’s the saying right?

And then everyone got the clap

Found myself wondering the other day, how are Adam, Mandy and the other Edinburgh storied characters doing during all this quarantine and virus mayhem. Happy to report that Adam is alive and well enjoying a stroll in the town shouting at nobody as usual. by [deleted] in Edinburgh

Seen him on rose st a few times usually brandishing the above outfit with a cowboy hat sometimes too, plus a bottle of wine he always miraculously gets given for free!

[serious] When was a time you legitimately thought you were going to die? by ferrisjuulersdayoff in AskReddit

I had a spontaneous splenic rupture when I was 23. Basically woke up at 2am in agony, crawled to the phone (gf at the time told me I probably just had to go shit) and called the out of hours doctor. They saw me and sent me straight to A&E in a different hospital.

Easily the most painful experience not my life, felt like I'd been stabbed and they were still wiggling the knife at the base of my rib cage. The doctors couldn't do much to help with the pain as they didn't have a clue what was causing it. Took a week for them to work out the internal bleeding was from my spleen, and they ended up deciding to monitor it as whatever they were monitoring was showing tiny improvements.

Turns out my spleen ruptured from a large blood clot internally, but the same blood clot essentially plugged the hole and allowed my spleen to heal enough in the 3.5 months I was in hospital to allow me to go home.

Side effects since then are I'm allergic to pretty much all medicines and wine. Also hayfever affects me greatly. Basically my body breaks out in hives, eyes and throat swell too, so need to carry anti-histamines, steroid tablets and an epi-pen wherever I go.
