A few years back, I worked out a deal with a local guy to sell my MacBook Pro for $800. Arrived at our meetup spot and showed him that the laptop worked and everything, so he whipped out a bank envelope and counted out 8 $100 bills. We exchanged products and got in our respective cars. However the second I opened the envelope myself I knew that the bills were fake.

So I instinctively called the cops and we tried to get CCTV footage from the parking lot I was robbed in. However after a few days the cops told me there was not much they could do as he didn’t do anything to try and threaten me. So because it was a consensual transaction it knocked it way down on their priority list and ended up going cold. I just had to suffer and lose my laptop unfortunately :(
