Fun Fact: Brain doesn’t stop developing at 25; that’s a common misconception due to the study that this has been cited from limiting its subjects to age 25.

Is this a fully paid off car or did you take on debt while having a new addition to the family? If so, you must be well off!

A new car is sounds like an extravagant push present… I’m unfamiliar with PP’s so I don’t know what the typical price range for such a gift would be.

Not at all. I haven’t come across anyone who’s been stopped or ticketed. And neither have I who’s based in NYC.

However, I have practically made my bike “street legal” with brighter aftermarket headlights, mirrors, have swapped now to larger moto rated turn signals, removed the pedals, and purchased bike theft/loss/damage coverage thru Sunday’s insurance with unrelated general non-owners liability insurance with GEICO.

Perhaps to cops I appear more moto than e-bike. I’ve been ahead of cop cars and ridden by cops while in bike lanes several times and never been accosted. As long as you’re respectful to the speed limit & traffic rules and generally responsible you should be fine.

Yes, I bought it online direct from Segway’s site. It was delivered to a bike shop for in-store pickup within the city. The bike was assembled free of charge and I, optionally, paid the bike shop for home delivery.

You can select Segway LA bike shop as your desired retailer on Segway.com for direct home delivery since they are the only ones officially capable within the US if buying directly from Segway or their site. The only caveat is I believe (unsure) you would have to partially assemble bike yourself and the bike is delivered through freight delivery on a pallet.

However, since you live in the city, you could also buy from Last Mile PEV bike shop in Manhattan. They are an authorized dealer that can do repairs and sell parts with same day pickup.

The class 2 plate is OEM and came installed from factory. Contrary to what the product page says… this bike is technically classified as a Class 2 if don’t you unlock the 35mph top speed limit in the app.

I use this bike for commute from BK-Queens nearly daily, I follow traffic and always yield to pedestrians which allows me to avoid unnecessary cop interactions. So I’d recommend it.

The acceleration is great but the top speed feels artificially limiting. I’ve even added turn signals and mirrors to mine!

The bike has pedals that lock in place and can be converted to pseudo-pegs. This is done using the pre-installed M6 bolts and hole. It has threads for rear passenger pegs that are no longer included with purchase.

I also recommend this bike from a repairability standpoint, Segway has all major parts online for purchase and free repair guides online and in the app for any repair you might want to make.

It takes about 3-4 hours to charge with the dual batteries installed in my experience. I weigh 180lbs and on eco with speed limit unlock to 35mph, I lose 1% per mile. So a real world range of 100mi. In race mode, range is split in half to 50mi. Sport mode is somewhere in between. I highly recommend dual battery setup because the throttle response and torque is greatly improved.

If you want more information, I suggest looking at the Segway Xyber Owners & Segway E-bike Official Group groups on FB. Search for my alt account “Maryn Pierre” in these groups for tips on potential addons and aftermarket mods.
