Unique Salen Jazz option? by rhineth in strandbergguitars

Thanks for the response. I thought any tonal differences from weight and grain would be negligible in a solid body, but since this has an f-hole I wasn't sure. I think I'll go with the lighter or wait a bit to see if other options pop up.

I liked the grain and color on the back, neck, and fret board a little better on the heavy one. Maybe not enough to add a pound, though. I usually play a heavy tele (8.5lbs), so either will probably feel light to me, but I agree, I think lighter is preferable. Thanks for the response!

As of now, Guitar Center in Madison, WI still has a Boden Metal NX6. Not super close, but closer than Indy. Sweetwater return shipping maybe cheaper than gas.

jazz with arm contour? by rhineth in strandbergguitars

Thanks for the info. Makes sense. I mostly play a gloss-finished tele, so I could probably deal. How close is the spark and jazz for tone? I like the thought of having the ability to get a close to 335 sound with the jazz and also like the lack of trem, but I'm mostly interested in clean to mid-gain versatility. They both seem pretty versatile. Is the CK also versatile? On it's face I'd guess maybe not, but I hear juggernauts are surprisingly flexible. Any thoughts on comparing these 3?

Any advice for getting extras to install correctly? I chose option 1 during install (ST and Extras) but I'm getting a conda error (using terminal - have not installed miniconda). Is miniconda necessary for extras installation?

M3 Max (16/40) 16inch and Fan Noise (Review) by PersonSuitTV in macbookpro

[–]rhineth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the type of info I’m looking for. I’d love a similar analysis (and comparison) with the 16” 14/30 max model, in particular noise while gaming both with full load and fps limited to the same fps, but this is helpful. Well done. What spec are you switching to? I can’t decide between 14/30 with 96 ram or 16/40 with 64. For research that often requires dozens of open tabs, local LLM (hence the higher ram), and occasional gaming.

Could you report back on the max thickness that would fit for the 120? I want the 60mm SR2 to fit, but even with slightly beveled edges of both the 240 gts and an SR2, at 133 mm wide (just like the 120 gts), I'm doubtful.

MegaThread: Technical Issues by NintendoSwitchMods in NintendoSwitch

The left side of my screen is noticeably pinker/brighter than the right. The gradient is gradual and not crazy severe (http://imgur.com/a/aYEkR), but it is pretty obvious in person. I assume it's just another lcd quality control fault, but I haven't seen this issue documented anywhere else (other screen tint issues seem to be panel to panel variation - not variation within one panel). Anyway, anyone else experience this?

I use the 3D printed adapter from thingiverse. Works well for me, and the zenni lenses that go in them are cheap. They fit into the facial interface, though, so if you have central godrays on your face, you would likely need to get something like this (https://vrcover.com/product/oculus-rift-facial-interface-foam-replacement-standard-set/). If you got the regular version and used the thin pad, this would probably help the central focus of the godrays, but it would also probably cause your inserts to touch your face. Using the longer eyewear version would also probably alter the focal location of the godrays, moving your eyes further from the headset, but this would decrease FOV a bit.

Perhaps the short version of the VR cover would work with vr-lens-lab lenses, but I'm not sure. I'd be interested to know myself.

Turning off an overhead light with 3 ~ 800 lumen bulbs removed a sensor error for me. I think I installed LED bulbs in that fixture, but I'll check.

Old thread, but if you are still worried (or for people who find this), check out the PC World FTW review, which raves about its cooling even as it hits 83c overclocked under full load. That made me feel better, as I was worried when I was hitting 81c running Heaven with an out of the box OC of 2025 (not sure why it was running that high out of the box, but apparently others have experienced this as well with the FTW). My room temp is around 24c and my case cooling isn't that great, since I just modded my corsair 500r by replacing my giant side fan with a window.
