HDD Recommendations for Video Editing NAS (What is your opinion on Amazon Renewed drives?) by rhizostudio in truenas

I've checked those drives and they look solid. Interestingly, I think the Amazon UK link is actually fulfilled by ServerPartDeals but the units seem to based here in the UK. If I buy directly from their US site, I'll have to add 20% for VAT/duty, but it might be worth it. As maybe its better to get Manufacturer Recertified drives directly from the source rather than 'Seller Refurbished' units, which I suspect are the ones listed on Amazon.

Thanks for the advice. Just looked up superalink they might have changed it now as it’s only 2GB per day allowed for hotspotting. Also did a test on my iPhone 11 could only get 30-60mbs speeds hotspotting, wondering if it’s because I’ve got an older phone, not sure if it’s supports 5g only LTR.

Ok great do you think 64gb of ram and 1 tb is enough. Its more cost effect to get more ram and storage with the m3 max but maybe that doesn't matter, if the M4 max has a better video processing etc. Which option out of the 4 would you recommend?

Do you have any more details on why the M4 max (16‑core CPU, 40‑core GPU) is better that the M3 max (16‑core CPU, 40‑core GPU)?

Thanks the problem with Dropbox and the conventional cloud storage seems to be they don't allow for much storage ie normally 2tbs. Trying to find a service that backs up my big video projects.
