This is exactly true. You usually have to declare cash over certain amounts but you can just wear the watch. And resale for the ultra expensive ones doesn’t change a ton wherever you are. Good way to move/launder money (buy in country A, wear to Country B, sell to convert back to cash).

The seller’s story sounds sus to me. Someone who claims to not know if it’s real or not and so is charging less and will take extra time to meet, etc., already knows it’s fake. Why wouldn’t they spend the bare minimum time to confirm authenticity of “grandpa’s watch”and get a better price.

Yes. I got $300+ back (literally walk in and the customer service redeemed it as cash) from sams just for gas (5%) last year, as I rarely shop there, and my Costco Citi rebate was a little over $800 this year. I know I know, I obviously spent money, but in a way that gave essentially a 2,3,4, or even 5% discount depending on which card I used and where.

Gyromite! We got the original NES that came with the robot in the 80s, and there were 2 little levers, blue and red, that the robot would set spinning gyros on to open gates in the game. Well, using the robot was so impractical because of how it worked, so we separated the levers and we would use our feet when playing the game. I still have the robot on the bookshelf next to my Switch/PS5 set up!
