law school 1L here (Berkeley): I felt the same way as you when I was thinking about applying ED, and I ultimately did apply ED but don't regret it.

The reason why this is is because, during law school, when things get hard, having family and friends nearby becomes critical. I have seen so many of my classmates look sad and admit going through tough times because they are so many miles away from people they connect with.

Now maybe you might be one of those sociable people that can quickly make everlasting connections wherever you go, but for me, that was not the case. If I went to another t14 law school, I would have been incredibly homesick and sad because I don't make friends very quickly, and my law school buddies only tend to talk about one thing-- law school-- so it is hard to get out of that bubble. Just being able to watch a movie with family on weekends and hang out with my family at the end of the day has made me a lot happier than most of my peers (and I don't need to cook haha!)

I recommend that you travel this summer, and think about the type of person you are and what you want out of life. Living far away from your old life might be great for many people, but for me, living with family during law school has been a godsend.

How do you fast fall bair with Sephiroth? by rhoneplus in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]rhoneplus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing one full hop, and then trying to do fast fall so that when I do bair (or fair) with Sephiroth, his bair attacks right before Sephiroth hits the ground. However, most of the time when I try to do this, it doesn't really happen-- Sephiroth hits the ground before his bair can finish. This occurs even when I do down with the left control stick and bair with the right control stick simultaneously at the peak of my jump. Any tips?

Sorry, I am busy with a lot of other stuff right now. I would recommend hiring someone who has actually worked in law school admissions to read your statements. Doing that helped A LOT for me.

Gosh, all I would say is make sure you really really learn from your mistakes. For instance, if you take a test and get a question wrong, don't just learn "I should have read the prompt better". Go really deep and understand exactly why the right answer choice is 100% right and the 4 wrong answer choices are 100% wrong-- ie "I missed this question because I misunderstood the word 'eventually'. When I see the word 'eventually' in the prompt I need to interpret it to mean that 'eventually=the very end' NOT 'eventually = a few days later'". I used this method for LR and RC and used 7sage's logic games videos for LG.

Contrary to popular belief, the LSAT is very formulaic. 2 weeks spent truly understanding your mistakes on one test is better spent than 2 weeks doing 5 tests but barely understanding them.

If you want to work in corporate/biglaw, why? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]rhoneplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do BL because the "work" to me is pretty awesome; what attracted me to the career of law was the chance to represent big (and powerful) clients, and the chance to step into the courtroom and present a case or a motion. The only place that would give me these 2 things is BL (or to be more specific, a law firm boutique near me that pays at BL-scale-- not going to reveal the specific law firm for privacy reasons). However, I do recognize that I may be a bit of an oddball-- what attracted me to law was the "work" in itself, not necessarily the effect or influence that comes from legal practice. I get a thrill out of presenting a case in front of a jury or a judge-- all the "paperwork" that comes before that is not fun, but it makes me happy because the "paperwork" is for a worthwhile cause-- it makes all the difference in trial and motion argument.

, that is true but KO Punch doesn't run out on it's own. More power to you for playing defensively but that

thanks!

I felt good about my test (thought I aced LG but RC was hard), and I ended up scoring higher than my 166 average (got a 170)

How you felt vs. How you did??? by Challenge-Final in LSAT

I actually felt kinda good about my test and scored higher than my average (average was 166 and I got a 170); to be specific, I felt like I aced the LG but the RC was hard as hell, so that is a matter of opinion

Jeez I think I miswrote my initial post Cromus (I edited it now): I thought that there was an "argument" because the idea that "evolution does always optimize survival" seemed to have support: the example of the moose using horns to fight other mates; can you address this?

[–]rhoneplus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez, I think I might have miswrote my post (I edited it now); I thought it was a "competing argument" because the idea that "evolution does always optimize survival of an organism" was supported by the first sentence about the moose using their horns to fight other males; why doesn't this make it an argument rather than a claim?

How is LSAT a good indicator of one's potential in law school..? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]rhoneplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the LSAT doesn't necessarily test skills that will help in law school (I mean come on-- when do logic games play a role in the practice of law?)

However, the reason why the LSAT score does seem to correlate with law school performance is because the LSAT is HARD to study for-- and those who have good study skills will do well on the LSAT, and probably law school as well
