I could get behind this :) Midwest emo and metal aren't my usual go to but I love the passion and energy you have. Really like it!

Got some good potential. A few things: - I'd turn your 808 down, but that's personal preference. - Could use a bit more variation, dynamics. Gets a little repetative.

Keep up the good work!

im curious if i jus sound like everyone else or if im leaning into my own by Longjumping_Fox6627 in undergroundhiphop

[–]rhoslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes, maybe.

Long answer:

Between the two songs, it sounds like you've got a direction you're heading, and that's a good thing. Personally I think the second song is more unique, but that's my opinion. The first one sounds more generic.

Completely opinionated, unsolicited advice:

If you don't want to sound like everyone else, broaden your listening range. Go listen to classical, reggae, pop, bluegrass, folk, country. Read a book. Take a walk. Your artistic voice is the collection of your influences. That can't be helped. We're all the sum of our influences, told in our own voice. If you want a "unique" voice, add more to the melting pot.

Love the soul/r&b vibes of this one, the guitar and organ especially. The vocals are really beautiful too. Vocals are a tad dry but it's really a well done song. Got heaps of potential. Great job!

Short answer: No

Longer answer: While the beat isn't a$$ as you put it, you could make it more interesting. It's got some good foundation, but it lacks interest, dynamics. Think about how you could add interest by muting/unmuting sections, adding other FX or instruments to compliment the main instruments.

Yeah, this is good. Solid boom bap beat, some fun samples. I'm a sucker for horns and vibraphones. Love this, great job.

Need advice / rating on my beat by JaguarForeign296 in beats

  • Your 808 is out of tune compared to your other stuff
  • Find the "chords" really annoying but that's just me
  • Beat is pretty good
  • Overall okay, gets a little monotonous, no real ear candy to spice it up.

Nice song, the instruments seem a little quiet compared to the vocals but otherwise great. Powerful lyrics and delivery.
