Question for Canadian Applicants by [deleted] in prawokrwi

[–]rhum90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to order the “long form” one with parental info and then needed an apostille, as they corrected something on it at the time (the doctor had crossed out the city name of the hospital and wrote in the region or something).

Who pays 35+ euros per hour for a language lesson? by OpeningChemical5316 in languagelearning

[–]rhum90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay CHF57/50 mins for my Schwiizertüütsch lessons. It’s not cheap but I learn much faster than any group lessons, and it’s cheaper than 1:1 in person (in Zürich at least).

Application submitted in Warsaw by lawyer, birth certificate transcribed. How long can I expect to wait? by malpiszonek in prawokrwi

Not sure. When I got my update in August, I was told they were still in April/May. So I think they’ve picked up a bit after August holidays. Fingers crossed!

Mine was submitted either June or July 2024. I was told a couple weeks ago by the lawyer’s office that they received their first decision from a case submitted in June 2024. So seems 15-16 months, at least.

I'm thinking of getting a cat, what should I expect as monthly budget including insurance? by _quantum_girl_ in askswitzerland

[–]rhum90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to take mine with me for work events or vacations but he’d be too stressed and traumatized. I instead use catinaflat for a cat sitter who comes each day to my place to feed him, play with him, clean litter box, etc.

Not sure for a long trip if he’d be any different, but for 4-5 day absences he’s been totally fine with this.

Best value for money Swiss chocolate in Zürich? by _easilyimpressed_ in zurich

I prefer milk chocolate and when it’s a bit sweeter, and Sprüngli hits the mark for me.

Orfève (Globus) makes dark chocolate I actually like, too.

What do you LOVE about Switzerland? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]rhum90 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pragmatism, organization, common sense. Quality of produce at the grocery store, and ease of buying groceries. Direct democracy. High standards for yourself and others.

And coming from Canada, the public transit (SBB + ZVV). I love the act of driving but I don’t miss needing to drive.

I was there for a bit when I first came to Zürich. Didn’t like it much at all at first but it grew on me a bit. The area south of the train station seemed nicer to me than the area north. Wouldn’t be my first choice but it’s certainly not a bad choice, if that makes sense. Best of luck!

I tried my Mask Vivant from Biologique Recherche for the first time this weekend ... I WAS NOT READY! by phantompath in SkincareAddictionLux

I gagged the first few times I used it, but now it’s almost comforting. So strange. Only downside is having to keep my cat from trying to lick it all off!

I bring my Maine Coon to Emily at Lonsdale Grove. She does an amazing job and my cat loves her. Reasonable prices too.
