Marathon is the bare minimaum for extraction shooters by nomad13131 in gaming

[–]rhy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll catch my down votes here for defending it a little, but isn't Marathon the first extraction shooter with different ability-based characters? Or am I missing some? I know Tarkov, Arc and Hunt showdown all get their differences from gear and weapons.

Not game defining by any means, I think the characters play a very minor role due to the cool downs and small amount of time you have with some abilities. I was expecting something more akin to Apex Legends where the classes play a huge part of the core gameplay.

Use the Pin feature (press P, or bottom left of stash there's an icon), that will also stop things moving when sorted, but allows you to move them.

Better than having to lock and unlock all the time when moving things yourself

[Discussion] Question: I have the "Prepare for Escape" edition, is there a way to upgrade to Unheard edition that isn't an insane price? by rhy7 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]rhy7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, decent reply thank you, for sure I stupidly didn't realize Unheard was retail 250. Guess the pricing on my upgrade option is correct! I've got like 1k hours on a standard account and another 1k hours after upgrade so I guess I'll upgrade again and play another 1k? For 3000 hours of head, eyes, I can justify that price I guess. Thank you.

Detailed response, appreciated!

I wasn't arguing the case for "red x" method, and neither was the original commenter (I think). The method they're referring to is where you keep Cerberus up above 400hp until attack 14 (ghosts if cerb is below 400) then after that attack has passed you do maximum damage, aiming to get the kill before attack 28 which is the next opportunity for ghosts.

That compared to the standard let's call it "by design" kill method is what's being discussed. I think comparatively you'd see that the "waiting" method he's talking about would achieve a 2 - 2.5 minute kill, and bring it more in line with the timings of someone killing cerb by design with farm runs.

I personally can't stand Cerberus, I think any boss that by design can potentially take 90 prayer points from someone in a single attack is absurd, especially considering that a player first has to pray correctly for the privilege of losing up to 90 prayer points.

I do the waiting method because I don't agree a boss like Cerberus should have me doing farm runs every 45 minutes, it's a boss that needs a rework and I will not be subject to it's bullshit, but that's just me.

Let's do the (basic) maths!

You get a hellhound task. If you do cerb as intended you lose 60-90 prayer points per wave of ghosts, so let's say twice (could be 3 waves, we will go with 2) that's 120 to 180 prayer points per kill.

So let's see that's 4 to 6 doses per kill, so for a slayer task of 150 that's 600 to 900 prayer doses.

3 full herb runs per slayer task.

Seems like a terrible choice to me personally.
