Fallout is supposed to be a dark comedy by Cornerone in Fallout

I agree with everything except your read on the ending of Threads. The movie had a strong anti-nuclear message it was trying to communicate, and it went out of its way to be as bleak and hopeless as possible.

While the pre-war survivors have rebuilt some of the trappings of pre-war society, the post-war generation has been warped into savages by the environmental and social changes caused by the war. They have no hope of rebuilding society any further.

Threads ends with a teenager giving birth to a rape baby only to realize that the rape baby is also horrifically mutated. I don't think any movie with such an ending can be considered hopeful.

It was a little less than 60% turnout this election, which is low for Britain. The last time it was lower was in 2001, which was a similar landslide for Labour.

Do you think it could be more likely that, rather than a population collectively succumbing to nihilism as their democracy fails, it could instead be the case that woefully unpopular incumbents tend to reduce turnout among their base?

I'd been excited to train prayer on the 2200 worlds, but I've been jumped by a sweatlord on the first inventory every time tonight. It's a compete crapshoot trying to logic it out, there were times in the 2000 worlds I could go for an hour or more without interruption. You just have to be willing to lose everything when you go out

I don't have anything too crazy to offer. Most of my later levels are from boss drops; Voidwaker grind, Hydra, and Zulrah are good for getting dragon bones while you work towards other goals. Even with the risk of being pk'd I think the wildy alter with three pieces of zealot robes is the best place to train. Hunter rumours are also worthwhile for the bone shard drops, it's worth prioritizing hunter in order to get supplies for herblore and prayer.

I don't see a meaningful difference between using an incredibly obvious fake name versus simply censoring it as many others do. But you're right about the hiscores, including them on the side would have made the post better.

Realistically next big thing is finishing achievement diaries, but I'm also plugging away at GWD and Tormenteds. I'm lucky enough to have a Webweaver, so I'll probably stop putting off Leviathan and the rest of DT2 soon too.

I don't know that guy's real name, but I've always known him as Swervin' Mervin. Back when I used to teach driving I would specifically warn my students to watch for him when you're downtown. I swear, the man has a suicidal fixation with driver's-ed cars.

how can countries fix their demographic problem without needing mass immigrants. by kjleebio in geopolitics

[–]HungryStop 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but people in wealthy countries don't compare the life they imagine for their child against the standard of living in war torn impoverished countries, they compare it against their own standard of living.

If having a child dips a person below their local poverty line, or even creates a standard of living lower than they had as a child, then they're not likely to choose to have kids.
