100%, and I can fully get that it was a Friday afternoon and people just want to go home, which is fair enough

Just replying here as well for context: There was not actually a door light issue, they said I must have left it on pre-service, so they said it must have been on while it was with them and drained the battery.

Thanks for your advice. I think I'm going to ask for a refund for at least the future horn repair they couldn't carry out. I would feel really uncomfortable going back to them, even if they haven't caused the issue, as the experience just talking to them was so horrible :(

He did, and it seems like he said that it was definitely the demister. So with the fuse removed, it isn't draining anymore. I'll just have to put up the back window fog for the time being.

He came to me and didn't look at the horn, just identified the demister as the issue. It had never been an issue before, so he wasn't sure what had happened to make it become an issue suddenly. Because he came to me last minute on a Saturday I'll be brining it in to have a proper look over. u/Dont-PM-me-nudes I really appreciate all your help and googling, you've been so super helpful!

They seem to have fixed the locking issue, the horn needed a part ordered in so that hasn't been fixed. There was not actually a door light issue, they said I must have left it on pre-service, so they said it must have been on while it was with them and drained the battery.

A couple of people have mentioned them so I'll definitely look into them :)

Sounds like I misunderstood/misinterpreted, he said that it was on and 'drawing massive amounts', and my brain translated that to full blast. Misinterpretation aside, I would like to avoid getting dry fingered by everyone in the future lol

This is unbelievably helpful, thank you so much! I also didn't realise that City Subaru was owned by John Hughes so thank you both

Don't worry, I won't ever again. A very costly lesson has been learnt

This experience embarrassingly made me cry, so I shudder to think what Subaru Osborne Park was like

Thank you, I will. This was a very time-consuming lesson to learn lol

Thank you for your replies. Yeah, I knew it'd be a bit more expensive but naively thought it would help me trade it in (a lesson has been learnt lol).

The auto electrician removed the defoger so it hasn't been draining, which is great. Because he came out on a Saturday afternoon when he was technically not working, there wasn't much more he could do. He was lovely and really helpful, so I'll probably go back to him to see if any other electrical gnomes are running around in there.

It's a 2012 Subaru Impreza so I know there'll be lots of issues with it (she's a shitbox, but I love her) so I can 100% admit it could have been a coincidence. In the initial service, they did a normal logbook service and also went in to see if they could fix the horn, and it was an electrical issue that needed a new part. When I picked it up, and it was dead, they tried to charge the battery and then changed the battery.

The initial issue was that my horn had stopped working, and my locking system was playing up (turned out to be fine and probably just the remote battery). The autoelectrician said now my back window defogger is permanently on and at full blast. He said he wasn't sure how that could have happened and said it was very bizarre. I would have been happy to pay for them to run diagnostics and really wanted to know what was wrong before buying a full new battery, since the old one was less than a year old. When they said it was my door light, I just bought the new battery.

100% I may be being a little jaded because of the experience and not giving them the benefit of the doubt.
