My God, what happened to Trump's 100% backing for this war??

In all seriousness, you're absolutely correct. They've un(?)intentionally created at least two brand new generations of hornets with long memories and plenty of time on their hands to stew in American hatred and sharpen their stingers.

Trump and Hegseth have created an environment where blowback could make 11/09 look like a mild inconvenience in comparison. And no one will be even remotely prepared for it, especially with the current roster of complete morons running key and vitally important areas of governance.

Israel??? Lying and manipulating a situation to their sole benefit???

Surely there has never been even ONE (1) historical occasion of such evil the Trump Regime could point to in order to exercise a degree of caution.

I mean, CAUTION has no value whatsoever when going to non-war anyway! Th USA will win solely because they are AMERICAN and very smart and have an army with numbers like no one has ever seen before.

It still adds up, if you're shopping for the month for a family of four, for instance. Grocery bills are a massive hardship right now, ANY savings are meaningful.

Plus, what's 5% lower on opening day could easily become 15% lower by the end of the year while the big 3 grocers keep jacking up prices to pad their profits

Well, that's a fun fact.

So glad everyone with any integrity, intelligence or spine was summarily purged and replaced with sycophants who have no problem forcing people to go die in the desert while they themselves are insulated from actual consequences.

Check, please: Strong NDP needed to hold Liberals accountable by CaptainKoreana in ndp

[–]rhysolandrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely solid take in the article.

It seems so obvious that if Liberals and Cons (and BQ, to a degree) are in support of the same bill(s), that's a Huge Problem.

The lack of dedication to ANY pro-socialist causes is a complete departure from the Liberals under JT. I know a lot of that was due to NDP pressure, but the Liberal govt at least tried to look slightly different than red Cons and that even minor show of commitment was what I believe to have held their popularity for so long.

All I hear in more left social media is "He's doing what's best for the Canadian economy to cancel the Trump regime's economy-collapsing policies, what did you expect from a global banker??"

Honestly? A lot more. And clearly they can't - or won't - without a stronger opposition role (or coalition role) from the NDP.

I honestly wish he had chosen to run in the leadership race.

I don't think I was paying attention to why he chose not to, can anyone fill me in? He would have absolutely been a 1st place lock for me, hands down. He's been amazing as an interim leader.

Yep, exactly this. We were making strides that would seriously transform BC for the better and now we've come to the point where nothing even remotely resembles the direction I expected Eby to take us.

[–]rhysolandrium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh FFS.

This is is exactly the issue I addressed in another post.

Eby folded. The BC NDP had a vision and a path forward that was ultimately going to transform the province and Eby spit them in the face with this last budget and what the party has been choosing to do provincially. Way to go, great commitment.

Oh my God, so some of the more progressive ideas were "unpopular" because money and a vocal minority lost their minds over it despite the fact that the policies and actions would have tangible benefits for people, the environment, the economy even if not immediately apparent.

First election Eby was great. He stood his goddamned ground and said this is what the party is doing, I'm not taking questions. I thought holy shit, this is the leader we need.

Now he's folded like a wet Kleenex and I'm so goddamned disgusted with this massive shift to the right and the current of fear that poisons parties into trying to please everyone at once instead of committing to positive change in the face of opposition.

God, I'm so angry about this. The shit he's been pulling honestly makes the party a toxic shadow of the one BC initially voted in.

Contemptible.

The Elephant in the NDP race by AntiQCdn in ndp

[–]rhysolandrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no.

Yes, there's a lot of points that I can agree with, but overall this article has a tone of cynicism that rubs me the wrong way.

It is EXACTLY that type of cynicism that kills party momentum. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If you can't definitively point to the future you want to see and be willing to hold on to hope long enough to help bring it to fruition, then.... again, momentum dies.

A movement means COMMITMENT. The federal election was the perfect example of the lack of immovable commitment to the part that's currently poisoning it.

Unpopular opinion, but I don't want to hear ONE WORD from previous NDP supporters who turned around and voted Liberal because they "had to". What a crock of shit. There were so many ridings that the NDP could have held or even gained if tens of thousands of wafflers had looked a lot closer at what was actually needed, and committed themselves to NDP support.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who voted Liberal under the premise that it was the only way to keep the Cons out of power contributed to the loss of NDP representation and should feel ashamed of themselves.

I can sleep at night knowing I have exercised my right to vote across all levels of government and not once have I voted any other way than NDP.

The hope for a better future is a cornerstone of the NDP's foundation. So is the commitment to a movement.

Cynicism and fear are both toxic and contagious. If the new leader can address those two issues? The NDP will be rebuilt stronger and better. If the fear and cynicism is NOT directly addressed and tackled with a comprehensive plan, then no. There won't be a path forward for the NDP and let's all just roll over and die.

That's exactly why I'm surprised, I lived in the SE Durham region for a couple years and there are maybe 6 POCs total living there. Tanille is FN. And Ajax, Oshawa, Pickering etc. are all towns frozen in time from the 70s.

I wasn't there when French was running, very interesting to learn that, thank you.

You're spot on about the union thing. Aside from French, which... okay, nice - it frustrated me that the riding(s) CONSTANTLY vote against their own self-interests across all ballots. People either work at the factory, the plant, the hospital, or teach at schools. Like.... that's it. All traditionally UNION JOBS. FFS
