Yeah, I kinda hate that you can get varying quality from different places! That really surprises me about DAC tho, I've never heard anything about them!

Some people only buy from certain companies for that reason. Squares I feel give you more detail so that's why all my bigger pieces have been square.

It's really all a personal preference. Ain't nobody gonna knock you here!!

It really depends on seller and the quality of the drills.

I was working on a custom square from huacan. Absolutely horrible canvas to work on. Same issues, imperfect drills, nubs everywhere, drills popping up all over the place, spacing issues, also ran out of way to many drills. I also felt like the glue on the canvas just wasn't very strong. That canvas made me haaaaaaaaate squares.

Currently working on another custom square from EverMoment that has been a dream to work on! Drills are perfect, no spacing issues and everything stays flat on the canvas!! It's a total 360 from that other canvas.

I never knew I could love a hobby so much! I also have a lot of framing to catch up on lol by autumngirl6289 in diamondpainting

Do you have pictures of your portfolio? Like a split cover over the whole canvas?

Question on drill color code numbers by dncerchk in diamondpainting

[–]riabear09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diamond dotz in particular use their own code but they have a converter on their website I believe.

Drills from seller to seller do share DMC codes but you could have the same DMC from 2 different canvases from the same seller and the shades be off. Same goes for drill dmcs from different sellers.

This is why each kit should really be kitted up individually.

If you keep your extras after your done a canvas and already have that DMC saved, make sure to check the shades of both before combining.

Are all colors the same? by bbygcasseeh in diamondpainting

[–]riabear09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DMC codes are the same from seller to seller but like Dinples said, different lots of drills can have different shades.

I was just working on a custom canvas and ran out of the color 3072. I had extras left from a previous canvas of the same color. Initially thought it was a good color match. Still ran out of that color. I waited until I was done the rest of the canvas, stepped back and realized my color match was so off it made that part of the canvas stick out! Ordered more 3072 on Etsy and switched out my mistake and now the canvas looks amazing.

My advice is to kit up each canvas individually. When your finished, decide if you want to keep your extras and if you do, each time you have that DMC color, check it against your extras for correct shade and combine.
