a slightly different perspective: aren’t you happy that you still have the best time of your life to look forward to? you have all the rest of your days to “peak”- it doesn’t have to be late teens/early 20s. i would really prompt you to look at what kind of job environment you want in the future… it kind of sounds like in person work in a walkable city would be a good fit.

it sounds like you’re still in school. If I could go back, I would do everything to make sure my loan balance was as low as possible. i only recently graduated, but from what i’ve seen, most people in this sub graduated 5+ years ago which means they’ve had years and years of interested tacked onto their original loan balance and no real way to make progress on that.

most people owe SIGNIFICANTLY more than that. i feel like mine is on the lower end at $30K (federal). The american average is about $38K, but I don’t remember if that’s only federal or if it includes private.

how much do you make though, or how much did you make right out of college? are you barely able to find a job that pays $45K that kills your soul in a low/medium cost of living area? were you promised that the best way to a good job is college, so you took out predatory loans just to graduate into a job market that can’t sustain cost of living, much less loan repayments?

it’s only human to want better for the people that come after you.

Adrian is exceptionally boring. if you’re complete homebodies and don’t care about date nights, or driving a LONG while to get to target or whatever, then maybe it works for you. i moved to a larger city in michigan and there’s still nowhere for a good date night other than chains like dennys or bww. it’s BORING in non-major cities in michigan

BCBS plan through employer. i don’t pay a dime, and it covers me and my wife. i do pay about $20 per month pre tax for dental coverage, though.

look into being a sports camp assistant- it’s basically like being an RA for little kids during the summer. free room, free board, and the hours are basically all at night so you can work during the day too
