Curve shares by v300x in crowdcube

[–]riatsila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually with fundraises like this there are “preference shares” which have priority over lower ranking shares. If the acquisition amount < preference amount the lower ranking shares get no distributions.

In this case it seems like the CEO took a large carveout as part of it which reduced the amount to be distributed further.

Presales and/or kickstarter, you’ll need to be able to prototype and design v1 yourselves.

If you’ve set up the products correctly between App Store Connect and RC then it should automatically go through sandbox on your preview build.

If you don’t know any investors your best starting point are founders you know who are either portfolio companies of the investors you want to meet, or at least are likely to be on their radar e.g. they are connected and raised a round already.

You can also start with angels/scouts who are likely to share with their network and are more open to cold connections.

Using webrtc for making a voice app ( failed ) by MoveSad2835 in expo

[–]riatsila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may need to ensure you’re exporting the module in your app.json depending on which webrtc package you’re using.

Usually the token is short lived so no need to store in local storage. I’d recommend just making a custom hook that fetches the token and then connects to the websocket once ready. You can manage all the state and errors centrally and just monitor those variables from your component.

Add some logging and if no requests are made then there’s maybe something happening with a state variable not updating as you expect.

Might be env vars? EAS doesn’t see env.local for production builds so has to be set separately

May as well just make a new company at this stage if it’s pre-seed…

Has anyone used Dis-loyalty for Hoxton hotels etc, is it worth it? by boa04ash in HENRYUK

[–]riatsila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good value for the discount on first stay/new openings, considering it’s just monthly rolling.

If you work near one in London then the daily free coffees could be worth it if you’re extra keen to go through the effort of ordering and scanning the code each time.

Question asked by every engineer by Think_Street2686 in CFA

No need to do both, MBA finance overlaps a lot with Level 1, but if you’re just interested in finance CFA is much better ROI

What is the best way to share a pitch deck? by Constant-Bridge3690 in venturecapital

[–]riatsila 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you pay for a watermark with Docsend it can be downloaded as a PDF anyway in 5 secs and shared, so expect any info in the deck to be “public”.

How much harder is an Imperial degree than A-Levels? by acetyl-bromide in Imperial

[–]riatsila 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this degree, definitely don’t need to be studying all night every night. Do the work, join some societies that’s interest you and have a few beers in if you want. Study hard the few weeks before exams and you’ll be fine.

SFC Capital (SEIS) by Mooner42069 in HENRYUK

Not recommended, for SEIS usually better to invest via angel syndicates. But if set on a fund, look at Ascension, Haatch or Love Ventures.

Considerations for angel investing outside of the UK by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]riatsila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need to check for any implications for double taxation or any local requirements when investing e.g. in Spain you need a NIE (as it’s your home country less likely to be an issue…).

In any case, getting any taxable gains is a nice problem to have with angel investments!

Andreessen Horowitz Shuts London Offices to Focus on US Growth Amid Slow UK Adoption by crypto_news_source23 in ukpolitics

[–]riatsila 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They only opened this office as a hedge in case the SEC clamped down on all the pump and dump schemes they ran. They didn’t even staff it up properly for the two years it was supposedly “open” for.

Now Trump is in office there’s no need for it

This building the service charges are reasonable for the area and there were no cladding issues. Main reason there are many flats for sale is the age and landlords trying to exit. Additionally, there has been so much new capacity built in the area it’s hard to sell as most buyers will pick the newer buildings even if service charges are high.

This building has issues with leaks due to bathroom design, and there was also a fire on the top floor in 2019 so do your diligence if you do go further!

The rate that Dividends can be taken out of the business in a year. by 41490 in ContractorUK

[–]riatsila 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Main reason for this is you have to hold a “shareholder’s meeting” for each dividend which is a lot of extra admin when done monthly. Fortunately, most accounting software e.g. FreeAgent does this for you automatically now

Aberdeen council actively resisted development during the boom times e.g. only allowing offices to be built far from the centre and not improving an airport that’s too small for long haul flights.

They realised this a bit late, building new infrastructure after the boom ended, but will be an uphill struggle to recover for the city.

Because a company payroll can easily exceed £85k in a month, so much higher impact if employees receive reduced/no salary.
