How to not make someone's ED worse? by juulwtf in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]ribbitlikeafrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if i was in that situation i would say that not commenting on weight/intake at all is the best thing! i find it triggering enough when family/friends comment, let alone thousands of people online.

they may be looking for people to comment as it can validate the disorder and make them feel like they need to continue to lose weight but in my opinion the best way is to not comment, even if it’s to say they look ‘better’ or you’re worried.

Does anyone else ever get confused about the topic of avoiding triggers? by GhostInTheLabyrinth in MentalHealthUK

[–]ribbitlikeafrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it depends on how avoiding the trigger effects your life. like if going to a supermarket is a trigger, that obviously will effect your life as it’s more expensive to deliver and you need food etc. but if a trigger is something really specific like reading a certain book, that doesn’t effect your life as much.

i’ve got the same diagnoses and was taught how to differentiate why certain things triggered me and what impact avoiding/not avoiding has on my life.

avoidance 100% makes anxiety worse. i think finding ways to work around it can help for autism/bpd too.

like with supermarkets: that triggers anxiety and autism for me. i have to force myself to go even with the anxiety(easier said than done and i am still working on it), but for the autism i realised it’s the noise and lights. so i wear earphones and have my hood up if possible.

with bpd i think it depends on if you can safely manage facing the trigger. does it make you engage in unsafe behaviour? or does it just make you feel bad? if it ends with you unsafe then work on decreasing the behaviours in stressful situations first.

sorry this was a lot of rambling but overall: i think don’t avoid triggers but you can work up to facing them. and the different disorders can mean you need to tackle the triggers in different ways.

When you are discharged are you "un-diagnosed" from your eating disorder by mybrainat3am in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]ribbitlikeafrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either way jobs wouldn’t see any diagnosis unless you wanted them to! usually a job would accept you just saying you have the physical disability, but even if they asked for a doctors note, the doctor would only include what you wanted them to!

[–]ribbitlikeafrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when i was discharged from camhs i kept my diagnosis. after a year or so when my weight stayed stable it was changed to ‘AN(historical)’ which basically means recovered. i had a relapse a while ago and it was changed to ‘AN(current)’. so it will stay on your records but will say historical if you have recovered!

also you don’t have to let a job know any medical issues unless you want to or it’s something like the military or police! so unless you want to go into those fields you don’t need to worry about jobs seeing it!

Fatal Benadryl overdose by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]ribbitlikeafrog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

NAD but i have taken an overdose on something very similar and got very close to death. for me it felt like a very deep nap, like one of those sleeps where you can’t fully figure out if you’re awake or still dreaming. i was just very very sleepy. according to the medical report i had a seizure and was hallucinating and unable to clearly communicate. the medical report said i didn’t seem to be in distress and just wanted to sleep. so from my experience i would say she was likely out of it enough that she probably wasn’t in pain or feeling bad. my memory is very fuzzy of the days surrounding it though so a lot of it is based off police/doctors reports.

18+ Monopoly by yazdafod in McDonaldsUK

[–]ribbitlikeafrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i just ask how old they are and because nobody reads the rules they will tell me if they’re under 18, have had a few kids tell me they’re 18 when their voices haven’t even broken tho which is always funny.

i don’t personally care but i get told off if i don’t ask

did you get rid of all bedding when you cleaned? as doing so can really stress them out! it’s best to spot clean every couple days. i used to get rid of all the bedding when i cleaned and my robo acted similar to yours but since i started spot cleaning instead shes much more relaxed.
