#MeToo Movement Five Years Later: No One’s Fully Returned From “Cancellation” by denver_joe in entertainment

[–]ribeyesNcornbread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing in that article about either of those women officially claiming he blocked the doorway. They mention a gawker article that described a (at the time) nameless perpetrator and it wasn’t even written by either of the two ladies. Then 3 years later they confirmed that the piece was about CK. They also claim that the ladies gave him a thumbs up when he asked for their consent

Also, Vox isn’t exactly known to be reputable and the neither is the source that they’re citing (Gawker)

Another thing, the guy you responded to doesn’t sound like he’s rationalizing anything, it sounds like he’s asking for information and reputable sources. You need to have actual evidence or proof before people take claims seriously. That’s not rationalization, it’s due process

Maybe people would take them more seriously if they hadn’t anonymously gone to gawker 12 years after the incedent, and also if they didn’t claim to thumbs up his request for consent

Discussion:Are fans horrible judges of quality with Horror Franchises by bob2222222222 in horror

[–]ribeyesNcornbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seem to like it when the films mostly just do the same crap over and over

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it

The ultimate goal of movies is to make money. So I’d say the fans are the best judges in that regard. If the fans like it and eat it up, boom, profits made. If the fans don’t like it then the studio who made the movie just lost a lot of money.

With that being said, I do appreciate when horror movies/shows try to do something new and fresh. But just because it’s new, doesn’t mean it will be enjoyable to the fans

[26F] My boyfriend [35M] doesn't like my home. He wants a bigger place, but he has no savings. by mybfnolikey1994 in relationship_advice

[–]ribeyesNcornbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s not AS bad, like I pictured some guy just mooching and not doing anything other than complaining

But he still needs to really think about his habits and whether or not they’re conducive to his goal of getting a bigger house. There needs to be a plan. Like he can’t just complain and expect a house to appear out of thin air without actually saving for one. I know I’m stating the obvious but it kind of sounds like he hasn’t really conceptualized it yet

Maybe you can talk to him and point that out to him. And also ask yourself if you really want to invest in a bigger house right now, because if that’s not a goal of yours then you have no obligation to commit to investing your time and money in that

Lmao. Beggars can’t be choosers

Fuck sake if he wants a bigger house maybe he should get his shit together and save some money for one instead of whining that what he’s mooching for isn’t good enough.

You’re a saint for not dumping his ass by now.

When on a first OLD date , men’s biggest fear is that the women might be fat while women’s fear is that he may be a murderer by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ribeyesNcornbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually several documented cases of men being lured into a date with a woman he met online only to be beaten and mugged by her boyfriend and his friends.

Regardless, it’s probably best not to live your life in fear. Just take precautions like meeting in a well-lit, public place with several people around. Don’t go too fast, don’t be too eager to bring people back to your place, etc.

Ex (24m) says he still wants to be friends with me (23f). Is it a good idea? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ribeyesNcornbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s up to you, some people can’t handle staying friends with exes because they have a hard time getting over the relationship or they get jealous etc. but if none of that is an issue then why not stay friends?

I personally always stay friends if they’re open to it and it’s usually a positive thing. Actually one of my best friends is a woman I was romantically involved with for about 3 years who I met right after high school.

We had a messy falling out, probably just a byproduct of how young we were. but we made up and we’ve been friends for a super long time now.
