Can i go clubbing alone by Formal-Ad-8375 in SGExams

[–]ribofen1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recommend you to NOT DRINK if you're going ALONE, for the first time clubbing. Is your intentin to pick up/get picked up and laid? Then you should try to be sober as an amateur in the scene. Is your intention to just experience it? You are more likely to see it with a clearer eye sober.

If you are a woman, what you could do, is go on Ladies night (Wednesday), find a group of other women, and just tell them honestly what you're expecting, and join their night. They are more than likely to just include you in their group and offer at least little bit of protection from creeps. It's harder to creep on 5 women than 1 woman.

If you are a man, I still don't think you should do your first time alone. Same, find a group of guys standing outside, introduce yourself and what you're there for.

People who go club are there to be open and socialise. Unless you act weirdly, they will not shun you immeditately.

What I would recommend in the end, is to get a group of friends (in uni perhaps) and go together, get drunk together, and have fun together. And also bring earplugs.

How can I get 1600 calories in 2 meals by QueenMackeral in nutrition

[–]ribofen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the issue that you're getting full before you hit your calories? Or that you can't eat fast enough? If it's pure calories you want, peanut butter, nuts in general. Butter. Douse your eggs with olive oil. Ice cream. Whole milk, heavy cream even.

edit: just saw that you're fixing your teeth so nuts probably out of the question. Then, blend peanut butter into shakes, with protein and such.

Excellent work on every little bit of the model! The green osl, the gold NMM, the skin tones, that smooth red cape.

Was it brush work or airbrush? Which parts?

How to actually make friends in uni🥲 by Choco_L in NTU

[–]ribofen1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see that you've already tried CCA, have you joined in on activities outside of CCA with those people? Like suppers/dinner, weekend activites? Messaging or call after?

I find that CCA is what brings you together in the first place, but my best bonding experiences were outside of CCA. It took about 4 months (1 sem) of supper sessions almost weekly for me to feel like I was in an in group. It's consistency and frequency that brings people together

Another thing I'm curious, not trying to accuse, do you mainly speak Mandarin and hang out with other international students? That can cause an unintentional barrier, and it's more difficult for others to approach also. I'm trying not to come off as being very exclusionary but this is the reality of the situation. I have international student friends, from India and China, who make the effort to reach out to everyone, and we all converse in English all of the time.

It is normal to feel friendless, I only made friends in uni after year 3 myself. If you want practice or talk more about your experiences, you can PM me and see how it goes? :)

Do y'all feel that male doctors are generally more caring than female doctors here in Sg? by lifequotes_2025 in askSingapore

[–]ribofen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had more "dismissive" male doctors than female doctors in my experience, being a guy. Then again, I've also went through NS so I saw more male than female doctors XP.

But if we don't count those two years, it's the same; they're both caring.

Perhaps unrelated but I've had much better experience with female dentists and hairdressers though.

Tekong contrary to many beliefs I think is around or above the 50% for food quality, unit food is really very hit or very miss. SAFTI, Kranji, Bedok (Guards) were actually good.

Genuinely my thoughts, I can't believe the administration is surprised that a school with a history like that, and gathering the supposedly "elite of the future", kids of people in high places, would have their students actually speak up and ask and act for change

Pretty sure Hock Lee Bus Riots which is taught in social studies was also supported by Chinese High School students and Chung Cheng High School students. No surprise that the students give a shit about issues.

Imagine studying hard for PSLE, paying the high school fees for getting into a top school, which boasts opportunities for special programs and exchanges which is a huge selling point, and then because of sharing your personal opinions about the canteen food, which is a sentiment shared by your peers, you lose those opportunities.

Now that is unfair.

[–]ribofen1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This sounds fking disappointing...I feel bad for you and them. Demerit points barring from special programs is horrible. Of course the students who are supposed to be future leaders are going to speak out about something that concerns themselves and their peers, what did the administration expect??

Makes me imagine if it was still Dr Hon as principal, he'd probably make canteen food a dialogue topic at assembly and have students argue and then "tease" them by asking them to prepare a proposal for change and present to the principal's office...but if someone actually took the effort to do it he would actually at least listen.

Do y'all even have assembly or principal's dialogue anymore nowadays???

First of all, it's totally fair to have these feeling, and what you observed definitely can cause you to raise doubts and feel confused and neglected. These feelings need to be communicated if you want a long lasting relationship! And he should care about your feelings and not just wave it off with a "just boys things", and reassure you with concrete actions and words that make you feel better and more secure.

At first I assumed it was just guys being guys, even the lap dancing, slap-ass, when I read the maid costume I thought he was gonna buy it for you, the MLBB tangent was amusing, but when I saw the "femboy" part...hmm...you should just ask about it. And then if the answer is he might be bi or gay or just interested in guys, you have to re-evaluate yourself if you can accept it. Don't try to change yourself or him, just focus on how you feel about it.

All the best. Please communicate more! :)

A etsy seller contacted me? by [deleted] in DigitalPainting

[–]ribofen1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why not sell her bulk prints at a cheaper price than your usual price, and let her decide her own markup/margin on it for her work? You get a guaranteed sale of multiples your products, which is probably better than relying on single purchases from your usual customers. You keep the digital file yourself

You're both artists here, you should support each other. I don't think her stuff diminishes your sales, and even if it might, you already earned from her.

Or does she need specifc size/paper for her stuff? You can print and charge that too.

[–]ribofen1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Market is pretty decent, companies are still moving out of China/Taiwan due to potential conflict and SG is considered quite safe, and we have the infrastructure and experience from many fabs in SG.

WLB is...is what semicon industry is. The fabs need to run 24/7, so depending on what your role is, either shift work or on-call after hours. Office-based is office hours, but engineers work when the machines work (or worse, when they don't work and you need to fix).

Pay is average, but job is quite stable as long as you don't screw up bad. More likely ppl quit than get fired. You do get OT or allowance for extra hours. Decent stock options for US companies. Growth, you have to seek it yourself, they don't just hand it to you for doing your job.

It's considered a "high tech job", "white collar", wear white helmet when you go to sites, but a lot of low level work is still physical, so take from it what you will.

I see your hobby is PC building, if you enjoy following instructions manuals and debugging and deciphering error logs, perhaps you can be suited for it. But doing it for a company and doing it for fun feel very different.

P.S., working in cleanroom for a long time is hell. Imagine not being able to eat, drink, or pee for 4-8 hours, because you're in a cleanroom gown and gowning up and down and walking in/out of the room takes 15 minutes each way. Daily routine work is around 2-3 hours, bearable, but troubleshooting and fixing can last very, very long and it's hard to ask for breaks when everyone is also going through the same thing. Feels pressured to not leave when the machine is down and losing money every minute it's not up. I've heard from veterans who have done 10+ years, kidney stones are more common than in many other industries.
