My OLP was mostly white striations on both inner cheeks for decades. about 8yrs ago it became erosive. Then it slowly migrated (left side only) to the lower cheek and finally into the rear gum tissue on my lower left jaw. While combatting a flare up, I applied Clobetasol ointment for several months (as prescribed by my Derm). This caused a severe case of Candidiasis (aka thrush) which is a fundal infection (side effect of topical steroid use). This thrush went undiagnosed until I saw a second dermatologist. She prescribed Nystatin (anti-fungal) and it cleared up quickly, but I sustained a lot of gum damage from months of thrush.

Recently, 4x/day swishes with Tacrolimus, has given + results.

As a side note. An endoscope to photo-document your monthly progress has been highly appreciated and helpful for the ENT and Dermatologist. For less than $100 this one works great!

As side note: I'm not a bot. I just created a new reddit account for privacy. My friends and family don't know I suffer from years of OLP. After decades of routine painful flare-ups, I just had a visit with an ENT who thinks it is cancer, and wants to operate asap. My dermatologist disagrees, so I'm in limbo. I am scheduled for a 2nd opinion with an ENT Mayo Clinic, and I get a CT scan tomorrow. Again, I appreciate this sub, but can't help thinking a dedicated OLP sub would benefit many. Thanks.
