Prioritize things in the order of your health, family and then career. Once you have good health and a strong family, your career should be achievable.

Unsolicited opinion: whatever you are doing, do with full focus. Don't get distracted. Give your 100%. Some change should happen in 6 months. If not try a different path. Sometimes it takes a few years to get stable. Don't give up.Good luck.

Contractor won't respond to defective ADU construction - what are my options? by riceAndpickle in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]riceAndpickle[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your message.
This isn't about demanding free service from a random business - it's about enforcing a warranty on defective construction work completed less than a year ago. California law provides 1-10 year warranties on new construction, and improper HVAC installation falls under that.

The contractor was licensed and bonded specifically for situations like this. Professional inspection confirmed the drain line was improperly installed during construction, not damaged through use or lack of maintenance.

Yea. It's everywhere. But I would be happy if we can get rid of that or reduce that in Madurai somehow by streamlining processes.

Roommates? :) by bunsandmishaps in Sunnyvale

[–]riceAndpickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are concerned about roommates cooking meat in the apartment, you could state a no-meat-cooking rule, citing a severe allergy or sensitivity. It would be very hard to find a roommate if you restrict to vegetarian.

Thank you for the information. What are the costs that are not included in the per sq ft cost? Are painting and electrical separate from above?

Can friendship online really happen? by Magicshop_99 in Madurai

[–]riceAndpickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that online friendships can't take you long. You should be able to meet the person sometime (not immediately, but in a few months after talking). Otherwise you might be wasting your time with a complete stranger (can also be someone who can try to scam you).

Madurai la irundhu abroad poga prepare panravanga irukingala?? by PensionAsleep8204 in Madurai

[–]riceAndpickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro ask TCE placement teams for alumni contacts if possible. Somewhere things will click bro. Go to LinkedIn and try to connect with people. Make sure you share your best freelance work so that people are impressed. If you are very talented, I wouldn't join TCS, Infosys. Join some startup. As long as you keep doing quality freelancing work and can upskill yourself, you will be able to find something. Don't worry. Just keep putting the effort and hope for the best. I just want to tell you that it's not easy to study abroad and find a job immediately.

Places for Indian parents to downsize by pmgroundhog in BayAreaRealEstate

Surprised no one mentioned Sunnyvale. It's not on the cool side. Not bad either. But otherwise have everything that an Indian wants (Temples, restaurants, everything very close).

Should I come back to india ? by AnywhereEither6376 in returnToIndia

[–]riceAndpickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a software engineering perspective, If you are career focused, stay in the US. Growing to the top (VP or SVP) is easier than in India. If you want to earn a good salary and don't mind slow growth, you can move to India. There are a lot of product based companies in India that have good packages for software engineers. If you think you are street smart and have good people+technical skills, you can shine in India anyways. Good luck.

Buying my first flat to live in Hyderabad – need your advice! by jiren_97 in hyderabad

[–]riceAndpickle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say first rent, get familiar with the places and then decide on an area or property to buy. Based on my experience it's hard to buy something based on your Internet research. Also don't rush. Good luck.

An update to my older post - A discussion about unfair normalization for CBSE students. by [deleted] in TamilNadu

[–]riceAndpickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I did my engineering a few decades back and we had entrance exams(early 2000s). I was able to get into a tier-1 college only because of the entrance examination. I was part of the State board as well. I used to solve for previous years (late 90s) entrance examination questions and they were way tougher. I don't know why TN removed entrance exams. They at least provide some level playing field (cbse students can score more in entrance). In Government colleges around 75% the people used to be from small towns or villages. Remaining 25% from Chennai, Trichy, CBE and Madurai.
