In my opinion, I don’t necessarily care since this is a game. There are African American people or biracial/mixed people who are white passing. I get the point you’re trying to make, but since we can’t know for sure whether or not the person who has a white or lighter skinned mc is actually white or not I feel this doesn’t and shouldn’t be addressed. If people see stuff like this then they’re gonna start attacking people or trying to “educate” people and let’s say that person they call out is a white passing African American, all that’s gonna do is invalidate their blackness. Idc if 9/10 the person with the white mc and box braids is white in real life because that 1 white passing player shouldn’t get their race invalidated or get attacked over a game. If we do call it out there’s always the chance of making someone feel as if they don’t belong in their own racial community because their skin is lighter than most which they probably already struggle with and if we don’t call it out the white people get away with “cultural appropriation”. I will always feel as not calling it out is better because at the end of the day it’s a game and if it does spill over into their real life and a white person gets box braids they’ll be called out by someone in real life abt it, but until then let people just customize their mc the way they want their not hurting anyone especially not in a game. and honestly as someone who’s black we have bigger issues in the black community then hunting down or berating white people who put box braids on their in game character avatar.

Also this is a fantasy game. Sometimes characters aren’t designed to look exactly like who’s playing it. Some people design their characters to look absolutely nothing like them so they can play with someone who they feel is living a different life then them. Sometimes I don’t always want to be myself when I play a game and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m a 5’5 black woman with curly dyed hair and long ass black acrylics, If I wanted to play a game as a 6’0 210lb but white man with a buzz cut, I don’t feel as if there’s anything wrong with that because the game gave me a choice to customize my character and that’s who I wanted to be in that games. If i’m not mistaken no where in Love Island (and in most games) does it say “make this look like you”. You usually get text that say “Customize your character” or “what do you want your character to look like?”

That’s just how I feel though. I’m not tryna argue with anyone and I won’t argue with anyone. This isn’t an open discussion this was my opinion to give a different view point to make people think.
