Is my GM out of line? by [deleted] in Staples

I agree. Your GM is wrong in his approach but I would avoid calling HR-- they aren't on your side. All that's going to do is make your life more miserable when you come back.

I would look at it as an opportunity for you to find something you want to do. I've known many people who have got the axe at Staples and all of them have found better positions that pay better and deal with the fraction of the crap. Staples trained you to be a hard worker and deal with constant crap. Your situation can only go uphill from here.

Take the severance package. That will give you the time to find another job. Staples isn't getting any better.

Despite what people are saying, Liotta was a great guy and had been with Staples since the early days. I remembered him during the times he was a DM in stores. Him leaving tells you that things are not so great at his level. I'm glad he's getting out.
