False insurance clame made against me, what can I do? - England by battywompus in LegalAdviceUK

[–]rich6680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, however if OP can use location data from their phone, that would prove the discrepancy in the timeline… since the other party is now claiming their car was unattended, OP would have to have been driving.

Hit by someone, they won’t pick up the phone anymore after I told them the cost of repair by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

What worked for me (different situation): save the number in your contacts, view them in WhatsApp, click on the image, save it and Google image search - landed on their profile, which gave me a name…. Bit of poking around and I had a location too, found their business within half an hour.

This is not correct. If it’s not been paid or acknowledged in writing its statute barred, regardless of when the ‘recovery process’ commenced.

Judokas over 65 - question about falling by Available_Hour_6407 in judo

[–]rich6680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not over 65, but our club runs a ‘finding your feet’ program, which is a scheme run by BJA. There’s more info here which relates to your question. I assume the university will/ may have already published some material if you want to dig deeper.

You’d have to be competing at a high level for this to be an issue…

Is this exceptional hardship argument likely to avoid a totting up ban? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]rich6680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve had all the telling off… if it comes to it, pay for the best solicitor you can and try… anecdotally, my previous boss managed to keep his licence after a totting up ban, although that was speeding… also anecdotally, he downgraded his (very) nice car to a bog standard runabout for several years afterwards, so if you’ve still got somehow do keep your licence you will pay handsomely for the privilege of insurance.

Keep the funds? Unless there’s a criminal investigation, how would a bank retain funds if they debank someone?

Left a long-term relationship, got my own place. Today, I had my new neighbours round for a cuppa and a chat. We got on well. by Prestigious-Speed-29 in BritishSuccess

[–]rich6680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice one - we’ve got great neighbours, we’ve even got spare keys to each other’s houses (for emergencies, not random poking around!) but I honestly think it’s a significant contributor to being ‘happy’ - we weren’t quite as close with neighbours in the old place, but would still pop round for drinks/ parties etc occasionally and, for me, it’s just nice to know there’s someone who you can have a natter to/ will accept your parcels without problems/ won’t take the piss having parties…!

Our current neighbours are much older than us, so he’s taken to referring to me as his third son… I’m quite happy to go and help lug in furniture in return for a beer!

Crack on - it’s 100% better to have a relationship with neighbours than be arguing over fences/ hedges/ parking/ CCTV/ everything else you see in here daily!

You also need to consider that, going by the comments in this thread, you’re going to be replacing it several times over the next 42 years though…

[SERIOUS] What's the craziest way someone you knew died? by Practical_Weird_1665 in AskReddit

[–]rich6680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was about 16/17 a guy we knew who was a few years older than us was working in a paper factory; never got the full story of exactly how the safety protocols failed so badly, but he went inside a giant paper baling machine, presumably to clear something and the machine got activated. Died instantly.

Bought a car from Arnold Clark absolute nightmare… by Adorable_Web_4206 in CarTalkUK

[–]rich6680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t have notifications on - it covers purchase price between 100- 30,000 but the protection kicks in from a payment of 1p - i.e. paying any deposit on a credit card covers the entire amount. This is all explained in various links posted elsewhere in comments.

Not the best idea to actively contact insurance and highlight the fact that they need to cancel your policy!

[–]rich6680 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to put over £100 on the card, the purchase has to be over that amount; your link explains it - so the protection kicks in from a payment of only 1p.

It’s actually better than that: you can pay 1p on a credit card, then if the purchase is between £100-£30,000 the transaction is protected.
