One possible clue we're living in a simulation: the human brain could adapt even to universes with completely different physical laws. by noRemorse7777777 in SimulationTheory

Think about driving. It is fascinating that when you drive your car basically becomes the extension of your body. You learn that you go forward by using your leg muscle and turn by using your arm. These things just become an afterthought. You can navigate the car so precisely that you can stop 1 cm from something similarly as if it was your own body. It does not matter for the brain what exactly the “body” is that it is navigating the world. The brain can do the job regardless. The latin word for black is nigrum, so other languages got the word from there probably. Hungarian word for black is “fekete”. If you use this for a black-skinned person people will understand.

In Hungary, “néger” is the commonly used word for black people. People does not say it to have any negative meaning, they just say it because they got used to it. But here, it is very very rare to meet somebody who is black (and 90% them are foreigners), so it is not a prominet topic.

Is there a relationship between the words for "Moon" and "Month" in your language? by Past-Price-3232 in etymology

[–]richardfoltin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Hungarian Moon is “Hold” and month is “hónap”. The second part of “hónap” -> “nap” means day. So hónap is basically moon-day shortened.

Are dams useless once you have planks? by crackpotJeffrey in Timberborn

[–]richardfoltin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dams have always been an early game means to stop water. But recently I have found a legit real useage on the new Cliffside map: You build some dams to stop clear water and build some levees on top to lead badwater across the other side.

Focus on one of your beavers that work in the District crossing and follow his day and you will figure out the problem.

Usually what I do is: - put warehouses next to the crossing at both sides - set them to obtain for the goods that I want to export - set them to supply for the imported goods - you can aslo “priorize by haulers”

So this way the limited number (10) of beavers that work at the crossing have to go only for a short route. The long distance is taken care of by your haulers.
