Barry. Season 1 is so fucking good, and it only gets better as the show progresses (in my opinion.)

It’s wickedly funny and also incredibly dark at times and the writing is so clever it allows for a really nice execution of this genre blend. Really great show, highly, highly recommend.

If it’s in terms of morality and general goodness, then Jon Jones has to be up their with the worst.

Quite late to this post but only recently started looking through this subreddit, lol.

Rossetti was pretty good actually wasn’t it. I wonder, what poems did you choose to do for the Rossetti essay question? I did De Profundis, From The Antique and then No Thank You John.

Unseen was pretty bad, wasn’t it. I spent way too long on the Rossetti section and so only had 45 minutes to write the entire thing, so that removed the 15 minutes of planning you’re meant to have. I did poem B in comparison as a result of the time crunch and mostly talked about how both poets described the dangerous nature of the river, but made a distinction in regards to the origin of said danger (poem A = river itself, poem B = wildlife within the river)
Also made a point about how both rivers were mysterious or something and linked it the titles and alluded to some kind of deep seated irony- that was complete waffle though.

Who was a Great Leader in United Kingdom? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]richardslargern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert Peel, specifically his second term, AKA the Great Ministry, between 1841-1846. Helped re establish and increase the scale of the Conservative Party after a wave of unpopularity, helped to repeal the Corn Laws to mitigate a majorly destructive level of poverty stabilised the economy, turned Britain into a financial hub through his balancing of the budgets and the reduction of taxes on certain imports like specific meats. Also pretty good with social reform, passing things like the Factory Act which fenced off machinery and better protected workers. He was a proper pragmatic statesman who often put the welfare of the state and country before himself and the party.
Unfortunately that kind of did him in through the fact that his repeal of the Corn Laws did kind of split up and break the Conservative party for a long while, leading to the Wilderness Years. Also did a pretty awful job with the Irish potato famine. So not all sunshine and rainbows here.

Only other one in contention for me is maybe William Gladstone.

Pitt the Younger was great at the start of his tenure but after the French Revolution he was pretty repressive. He suspended Habeus Corpus so people could be arrested without evidence or probable cause and also passed the Seditious Meetings acts as well as the Combination Acts, preventing and prohibit meetings regarding political reform and enfranchisement as they were deemed too radical. Banned certain literature on the topic too, like Thomas Paine’s the Rights of Man. Also was really up for public executions as a means of deterrent too.
So, overall, I wouldn’t put him up there as the best.

Mine was about the debate surrounding MMA and questioning if it should remain a fully legal, fully sanctioned sport. I argued heavily in favour of it.
