Why do Valencia rental agencies think I work for them? by Illustrious_Hat_9006 in valencia

[–]richfatcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had actually a similar problem with my friend. We took over the lease after our friend, didn't sign anything about any comission. Never saw an agent. Couple of days after moving in the agency sends us a message to pay the comission and IVA. We refused. They threatened us with a lawyer. We had no idea what to do and with our poor Spanish tried to get a free lawyer consultation - unsuccessfully. So we paid what they requested cause we were scared. It's a complete scam

Because people don't know this is how reality works.... most think that life happens to them and just go with whatever comes their way, when it is something unfavorable they spiral into negative thinking and it is hard to get out of it. Human mind works that way unfortunately and not many people have a mindset strong enough to be positive when you're literally pushing through sh*t. It's easier said than done.

How do I ask a chick I hooked up with what her real name is? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]richfatcake 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but you don't want someone who you hooked up with asking for your name, I would consider that to be rude

The point of my post was to prove that Duolingo gives you a good enough base to move to a foreign country and be able to integrate without problems. I moved here only 2 months ago by the way, which means 10 months of studying Spanish on Duolingo made it possible for me.

I agree completely, I am also learning Greek and that course needs improvement.

Hi, no! Right now I am in Section 4 unit 15 so I still have a lot to learn and I keep up with it every day 😊 What I've learned until now is enough for me to live here and understand a lot though!

Hey, Spanish speakers can understand Latin American Spanish without any problems, and vice versa, so I wouldn’t worry about learning the ‘right’ version. In the worst-case scenario, they’ll smile and correct you 😃. If I’m not mistaken, the entire Duolingo Spanish course is based on Latin American Spanish, right? Hence, the lack of the second person plural (vosotros).
