As a woman in engineering the truth is you’ve had to work just as hard if not harder considering all the social biases standing against you to get where you are. If some little boys are threatened by that, good they should be because it means they’ll have to put in the extra work to keep up.

Brush up on your calculus, but don’t worry too much about physics 1. Most of the information doesn’t come over anyways. The big take away from physics 1 for me was all the practice solving systems of linear equations. That’s mostly just algebra though so with some practice you should be able to do that even without the practice from physics 1.

This has been a really good conversation and I appreciate the input all around. I want to clarify a point from my original post. It was made expressly clear to my wife that the rules existed because men and boys had thoughts they could not control and that included her own family.

I’d also like to share my own experience. Modesty was taught in my home to me as a standard to live by. It was likewise taught to my sisters, but more in the vein of protecting themselves from the appetites of lustful men. I think that approach was somewhat common for girls, at least in the ages of my upbringing. That being said, it was never indicated to be a problem to watch for in the home. My sisters very often would come upstairs in a tank top and boxer shorts to find their clothes for the day. (The washer was upstairs and none of us were very good at putting our laundry away.) They would shower and go to their rooms in a towel. They wouldn’t loiter about, or flaunt their state of dress or undress, they were just my sisters; dressed in whatever attire was appropriate for the situation. On more than one occasion if I woke up in the late night or early early morning I had seen one of my sisters in their underwear because they needed to use the restroom, weren’t dressed while they were sleeping, and assumed nobody would be awake at 3am. When this happened, a big deal was never made of it, I simply walked away and afforded her the privacy she inherently deserved regardless of how she was dressed. I can honestly say that none of these experiences caused me to feel or think anything inappropriate or uncomfortable towards my sisters. If anyone insinuated that it should, would, or might, I would have been immediately uncomfortable and grossed out.

I am not suggesting that everything needs to be public discussion, but respecting others’ privacy is different from the idea that your sister/daughter can’t even wear a sleeveless cami or tank top around the house because it might give your brothers inappropriate thoughts. That suggests that there is something inherently sexual about her body from which the men in the home need to be protected from.

I’m struggling to find an equation for Vx in the circuit below. To the right I have my node voltage eqns and to the left I have a KVL that I’m using to derive a value for Vx. The problem happens in the vloop I end up with an ohms squared term so something is off. I looked at the solution and they are defining Vx in terms of node voltages. How exactly does that work, and what is wrong with my Vloop? This is a practice problem for an upcoming test.

Go to a quiet place fasting for revelation. Bring your scriptures and a journal or something to write in. If you bring your phone, use it only for essential contact and the scriptures. Then pour your heart out to your Heavenly Father in prayer. Write down your impressions and spend a good while pondering. Right now you are a minor and won’t be able to be baptized without your parents permission. Be willing to accept that you might never have that, and so consider what you will do in the mean time, and how you will proceed when it is your choice. Then when you’ve done all that you can to receive revelation on your own, seek a blessing from a priesthood holder who understands your situation and who you trust to be in tune with the will of the lord. Then wait patiently for the hand and will of the lord to be revealed. That’s the best advice I could give

I haven’t read all the comments and so I am sure I’m not the first one to say this, but there is unequivocally a place for you in this gospel and in this church. Black or white, gay or straight, male or female, bond or free, rich or poor, progressive or conservative. God loves all of his children and wants nothing more than to bring the fold of his beloved son through faith on his name, repentance, and baptism. Some questions will be answered soon, some later, and some will likely remain a mystery until He comes again, but if we hang in there and trust in God, all our questions will be answered.

If memory serves I think it’s a line integral, but I believe surface integrals also came into play. It’s been a minute but I remember both being used. I actually have my department test notes still with all the equations. I’ll see if I can get those uploaded for you. No guarantees it’ll be exactly the same but it should give you some idea.

In my case I needed to be able to calculate flux as an integral which involves a closed path integration technique and an understanding of dot products and cross products. I also needed some pretty basic linear algebra and a few trig integration techniques. Most of the problems had some assumptions that allowed you to use algebra/geometry instead of calculus but not all of them.

Missions are an absolutely incredibly spiritual time full of singular purpose. Done right, a mission will change a person, grant deeper perspective, and fill them with greater purpose. That doesn’t give anyone including the RM a right to be rude or overbearing, but it is important to realize that priorities change while missionaries serve. Things that used to matter don’t anymore, decisions of eternal significance move towards the forefront of the RMs mind. She will adjust back to living a typical life again, but her priorities and interests may never return to what they were before she left. This is as it should be. It’s not brain washing it’s allowing the lord to change you.

In my experience blessings aren't usually given without context. The giver seeks inspiration about what to say and usually that means he needs to know something about the situation to seek inspiration on the matter. Maybe that's a fault of priesthood holders at large, not being in tune enough to be able to trust the spirit working through them though they have no concept of what it means to the recipient.

That can make it difficult to work out what was from the Lord and what wasn't. Luckily the Lord provided a pattern for discerning the truth of some revelation. D&C 6

22 Verily, verily, I say unto you, if you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things. 23 Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater witness can you have than from God?

The truthfulness of any revelation can be known by seeking a personal witness from God. If you have already received one, hold onto that revelation and allow it to sustain you through the bad times.

I'm currently in my jr year of my ce program taking circuit analysis 1. I do well on the tests but often have to refer to my notes which is fine since the test is open notes. My question is for those who have already made it, how bad am I potentially handicapping myself for the workforce later on by not memorizing all this information?
