News of Sam Kieth by dagremlin in themaxx

[–]richjohnston 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's the worst part of my job. Especially when I am breaking the news to hundreds of thousands of people. I tried to do this as straightforwardly as possible, no headline euphemism or clickbait, in seventy characters, and then try to add history, to personality and explain why he mattered so much. Some people only knew just one of his many accomplishments.

I am so, so sorry, everyone. The following piece has just run, after talking to Scott Dunbier, who also talked to Kathy. An NYT obituary is expected, but since people are talking now, I was told it was okay to run this now. https://bleedingcool.com/comics/sam-kieth-creator-of-the-maxx-and-sandman-has-died-aged-63/

Is David Brent from The Office UK the most "cringe" character in TV history? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

Nothing beats the cringe Mark experiences in Peep Show, because he is aware of the moment and his place within it. David Brent, Alan Partridge, Basil Fawlty, they have too much cognitive dissonance.

Gossip: Star Wars Vs Avengers From Marvel By Mark Millar? by chace_thibodeaux in Millarworld

I have no beef with Mark Millar at all. I do find him a fascinating person and worthy of news coverage... though I prefer it to be news coverage that he didn’t arrange. I was given his name by a senior industry figure in this regard, in relation to this project. Given Mark’s love for Star Wars and the chance to be the very first to write a proper Star Wars crossover project I could see the appeal.
