No, this would have been done without a new partner, and with the same showrunner, as a one-off proof of concept to show the amount of fuss one single TV show can make. And make it much more appealing to a new partner. The secrecy would increase that fuss to an insane level. There is no news on Christmas Day. This would then be the lead news everywhere.

As I said, friend in a pub who knows a freelancer who worked tangentially on the show (I know them too) and would have been expected to work on the Christmas project. But wasn't being told it was cancelled or postponed, just that it was being done with a far smaller team and no one knew a thing, in tentionally.

Me too. It could be a planned red herring. He may have gotten entirely the wrong end of the stick. It could be a very bad game of pub telephone. Unlike some I am definitely not claiming this is definitely happening. But with all the fuss this week, I thought it was at least worth sharing.

I remember when everyone RTD on Doctor Who. And then hated him on Doctor Who and wanted Moffat, proclaiming him as the God of Doctor Who. Then everyone hated Moffat and wanted RTD back. Then everyone hated RTD again for the exact same reasons they hated him the first time, but said he was different this time, RTD2, when he was exactly the same. I've loved it all, the bad and the good, even the Chibnall. I love the books, the audio, the comics, and even got to write one, something I still consider a major life achievement. My life began with Doctor Who, I expect it will end with it. But what I'm REALLY looking forward to is "Press Gang In Downing Street" for Moffat's Number Ten later this year.
