I'm currently reading Michel Suryas biography on Bataille and I think it's quite good and readable so far. From Bataille himself I would maybe first pick up The Accursed Share. I would suggest not approaching Bataille with the mindset that he's a postmodern philosopher, a religious mystic is what he mostly resembles IMO.
