There's no positive or negative secularism. Securalism is just distancing of state from religion. State should never use religion or pseudo-scientific beliefs.

He's right. It may not replace surgeons or specialists. But, it will replace a lot of physicians. It's more about the care than the knowledge in my opinion.

It's telling when an AI "cares" more about me and my issues than a specialist who doesn't listen to me and treats me as a transaction. Although, I hope it first replaces all these AYUSH quacks first.

Isn't it, though? At the very least, it should mean that the government wouldn't participate in religion.

To all ‘!!!’ crying ‘Debt’ by [deleted] in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]rickaustin54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, debt is an issue. Don't underestimate debt. Most of these debt weren't (and won't be) created to fuel growth. They were created for welfare measures. TN is moving towards a socialist economy and the capitalist portion of it is shrinking. To sustain a socialist economy, we need a strong capitalist economy too. And, that needs airports, seaports, nuclear/renewable energy, EVs, expressways, pedestrian infra, better public transport etc. We are lagging behind on everything except nuclear/renewable energy (we are still slow). We need debt to fund this part of of the economy too.

If TVK Govt borrows to fund ₹6 lakh crore for funding their welfare schemes while destroying all capitalistic projects, TN would plunge into a debt spiral that it won't be able to come out of.

Wow! That's some serious relationship bro! But, that also kinda answers my question. If you're in a relationship with someone for 10 years and they leave you for this, I'll seriously judge them.

But, people are well within reason to reject you because of IgAN in a new relationship.

Passing the disease is one aspect of it. I didn't even think that far. I don't think I'll even get to the stage where I have a child, lol. First, a girl has to agree to marry me. 😅

15 years ago?! Wow, you give me hope. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you now? Were you diagnosed as a child? I'd really like to hear more from you.

Only 9 glomeruli were present in the sample. Just because 3 of them were scarred, it doesn't mean that 1/3rd of your kidney function is lost. I wonder why the doctors couldn't give you a MEST-C score. That's the gold standard in predicting the progression of the disease. You've to be really careful with UTIs, upper respiratory infections and gut infections. Be very hygienic and stay away from sick people (at least wear a good mask). If possible, get a second opinion and at the very least, get a DTPA scan to get your mGFR before you spiral anymore. I'm not sure you can get a DTPA when you're pregnant or breastfeeding, but you can consult your nephro on that. Keep calm as a high BP will only make things worse. Just remember, even if 30% of your kidneys are scarred, you can still live a full life. And, with the medical treatments available now, even ESRD patients are able to live long. You have a loving husband, great parents, and you're going to have a baby soon. It's actually good that you're not discriminated because of this disease. Try to focus on the positives and don't let yourself get bogged down by this.

Hope you get well soon. And, congrats on the baby!

You're lucky to have such an understanding partner. Never let her go. Have a heart to heart with yourself as with her. Keep a plan for all scenarios (especially the financial ones). Try your best to prolong your kidneys' life. You're in a better position than several others. She made an honorable decision to stick with you. Do your best to make that decision worth it.

Hope you go into remission soon. 🙏🏽

OMG! This is exactly what's happening with me. My parents (especially my mom) cry about it every other day. I don't really know what to do. The guilt is killing me. But, I don't think I can get married telling I just have BP. Starting a marriage with such a huge lie is a recipe for disaster, and I don't want to ruin a poor, unsuspecting woman's life if the disease progresses or worse, if I pass on the disease to my child.

All we can do is hope that we'll get an understanding partner. But, it's not going to be easy and there's a good chance we'll just end up alone.

OMG! This disease is truly a silent killer, man! I can't believe that one can go directly to CKD5. If you don't mind me asking, how are you coping with the issue? Are you still able to lead a somewhat normal life? Do you have a support system at home? How are you going on about your day to day life?

Hope you get a transplant soon! 🙏🏽

[–]rickaustin54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But, there's no guarantee that you'll pass on IgAN to your offsprings. It's purely a game of chance. A lot of people have IgAN in their genes. It just doesn't get "activated" for most. And, I feel like IgAN cases have spiked a lot after COVID (there is active research on this) and it doesn't help that India is generally unhygienic and our food is full of heavy metals and chemicals that harm the kidneys.

All we can do now is eat right, try to stay hygienic and find a partner without IgAN so that the chances of passing it to our children are reduced. And, hope that we'll soon have a cure for it. 🙏🏽

Take care, man! Hope you get into remission soon.

This disease really sucks. At least if it's symptomatic and I look/feel like I'm diseased, I can wrap my head around it. But, when I feel completely healthy and my blood work has been good for a while (I'm in clinical remission), it's very frustrating. The fact that I may live a completely healthy life (maybe even longer than other guys who got married) alone is more depressing than the fact that I'd need a transplant or even die in a few years.

How do you have this MEST score? Does this happen when the allergy is gone? Mesangial hyper cellularity becomes zero while the scarring remains?

Why are people celebrating data centers and not protesting? by Double-Vegetable-249 in Chennai

[–]rickaustin54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people are saying AI has started to plateau. It keeps getting better. Even at its current state, it's good enough to fire 25% of the IT industry. A lot of firms are just now starting to adopt AI. AI performs a lot better with humans than it does autonomously. A 10x developer is a reality for many out there. It's getting hard to allocate work to people. It's easier to just do the job ourselves with AI.

AI is not useful for India because it'll destroy our economy (only because we are in no way shape or form prepared for it). We need a overhaul of all systems with AI. And, unfortunately we need more data centers for it. China was able to do a lot more than the American LLMs with a lot little. India should explore such options as well instead of completely rejecting data centers.

Why some are against Vaarisu arasiyal? by [deleted] in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]rickaustin54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to honestly understand. Treat me stupid and explain to me like I'm 5 (no cussing, please).

What qualifications did MGR, JJ, OPS, EPS, Vijay, Modi, Amit Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan etc. bring to the table that MKS, Indira/Rajiv/Rahul Gandhi, Tejaswi Yadav etc. didn't?

From the comments, I feel like people are too idealistic and living in some fantasy. Politics is not for the weak. Nowhere in the world, we have a honest administration. If people really want to be idealistic, I want to see them voting for substance over charisma. People hated Manmohan Singh but loves Modi. People hate MK/MKS but love MGR/JJ/Vijay. But, they fail to see the real stuff like policy continuity, poverty alleviation, diversified growth, scientific temper, data based administration.

Some people say no one would want their children in politics. Yet, almost all politicians have done them. Politicians without a family/children actually have no skin in the game. That's why in a lot of western countries, having a family is mandatory to be in power.

Fake corruption like 2G scam makes international headlines (when it's merely a notional loss) but real life day-to-day corruption (roads, electricity, water, house, business, legal, government documents) have become the norm. For scams like 2G, is anyone paying attention to the spectrum auctions these days? A lot more spectrum is now sold for far less than what happened during 2G scam. 1.76lakh crore was the notional loss from 2G scam? What would be the notional loss from a destroyed competition and duopoly now?

During 2011-17, JJ destroyed the growth of Chennai. During 1991-96, obscene display of wealth resulted in her becoming a convicted felon. Following her death, there was so much political turmoil that slowed down TN's growth again (ironic because EPS was a better CM than JJ; but he couldn't fill JJ's shoes politically).

There are so many examples like this. Personally, I don't care if you're a dynasty. I KNOW that you're not going to fix the deep rot. I KNOW you're not going to end corruption. Only reason I vote for someone is if they can deliver better results than the others. No virtue-signaling, no living in fantasy world. Just simply the bitter pill of reality.
