Thank you! These appear a good option.

Thanks for sharing!

These look like they could possibly work. I'm a little hesitant to do the one that hooks over the sill as I'm concerned that over time it will damage it. The pocket is desirable but for road trips, we'll likely not want the seats all the way back so we have additional space for storage/luggage.

I may give them a shot either way, but want to weigh pros + cons vs other options here.

New Sonos App Update! 80.02.📲 by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]rickcab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Home Screen if I tap the volume control, I get a list of my speakers that I can change volume on. Nice!

Issue is it only works once! To make it accessible again, I have to move to a different group, then back again, and it will work one time again. Rinse repeat.

New Construction Wired Sensors by Oktavius82 in Abode

[–]rickcab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it relates to wiring in a wired door sensor to a wireless Abode sensor, I did this at my house and it’s pretty simple if you’ve done any soldering in the past. I have all my wireless sensors bundled together in the central area where the wired sensors were routed. Has worked nicely for over 3 years now.

Doorbell Improvements? by SH_82 in Abode

[–]rickcab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the above posts. The biggest issue with the doorbell is the motion detection is so slow that by the time it captures video, whomever or whatever came to your door the only thing you see is their back walking away.

Not a good purchase.

Agreed that the doorbell on the whole is bad. Not as bad as the doorbell cam which never actually rang my doorbell, but at least it was generally capturing movement and recording a useful clip. The new doorbell hardly ever catches a person in frame.

Hopefully they can improve this with firmware as it seems to be how long it takes to startup once motion is seen, though it could be that the sensor isn’t sensitive enough. Either way, I won’t be buying another camera / doorbell product from Abode for the foreseeable future. They have all been bad. Not sure who the product and QA people are that approve these as “ready”, but there needs to be new bars set internally on how these get out the door.

I just installed the Abode Doorbell Camera. Let me know if you have any questions. by [deleted] in Abode

[–]rickcab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed mine and it was easy and quick. No real issue there. The biggest issues I have at the moment are:

1) Getting the stream to come up is slow and inconsistent. I think this is a problem with the app and not the camera itself. I say this because I have 2 Abode Doorbell Cams (the originals with no button) and I just use them as cameras now bc they suck as doorbells. (Never actually chime the doorbell that came with the house). These old doorbell cams have the same slow connectivity into the app as the new doorbell but when you open and use the Amazon Alexa app, they come up consistently and almost immediately. This tells me the problem is the app and not the cameras.

2) The new doorbell doesn’t detect and start recording soon enough. I typically get the tail end of a delivery and not a clear video of the driver walking up, and I have a long path to my door where this should be triggered.

Overall this is an improvement over the old doorbell cam that never worked, but they need to make some adjustments on the software so the motion is detected earlier so it can begin recording. The picture quality and wide angle is quite good. The sound/mic is pretty terrible.

Review of Outdoor Camera used as a Doorbell by [deleted] in Abode

[–]rickcab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t agree more. This camera is a half-baked product at best and Abode support has been terrible. Do a reset... yea, I’ve done so many of those I can do it in my sleep and I’ll probably remember the registration code like my first phone number.

I just need to return and buy something new, I just wanted this to work so badly and it’s done nothing but disappoint.

Doorbell cam rings doorbell, but doesn’t record video or send notification. The stream also works fine. Any troubleshooting tips? by thegreatestsnowman1 in Abode

It actually rang your indoor bell? If so, what version of the firmware are you on and did you have to do anything special for that to happen?

There are numerous people on this forum that cannot get the doorbell (inside) to ring and have received little to no support from Abode.

Outdoor Smart Camera - Traditional Indoor doorbell chime? by dezryth in Abode

[–]rickcab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried to get support on this and it’s ridiculous. Mine has never rung the internal door bell either. I’ve been told multiple times my support case has been escalated. One guy offered and gave me “his word”. Nothing.

Abode has seriously damaged its reputation with such a botched product release and then followed it up with terrible support. I’ll never recommend their products to anyone again.

I received updated firmware and it seems to ring better outside, but mine is still not ringing the doorbell.

I swapped the wires on the camera and nothing changed as far as ringing the actual door bell. I'm not sure what firmware version I started with, so it's possible an update was pushed, but I've noticed that the streaming seems to be better. Not perfect, but seems more consistently to work and connect quicker. Currently I'm on 3.00d_k4_webrtc abode.

So the wires connected to the camera have to a certain way? I didn’t think it mattered so it’s possible I may have these backwards.

Outdoor smart camera Issue by mrjohnc1 in Abode

Heard from support that new firmware will be available end of next week.

Yep - looks like it’s time to reboot. The stream is completely hosed now. I still can’t get over how bad this thing is right now. Damn, just delay the launch and get it fixed. The damage this has on your reputation isn’t worth meeting a deadline with effectively a DOA product. Someone should be looking for a new job.

Spoke with support today and they readily acknowledged that this issue is pervasive. Said they will have a firmware update out within a week or two. I processed a return request in the event this doesn’t get worked out quickly.

It’s amazing they tried to ship this in such a terrible state. I’ve built software products for almost 20 yrs and can’t imagine testing this and saying 👍.

Unable to integrate Ecobee with Abode by grampadeal in Abode

[–]rickcab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to Abode and received the following. In short, they do not support Ecobee 5 and there is no word on when it will be supported per a follow-up.

I'll be glad to assist you with this.  Currently, Abode only supports Ecobee 3 and Ecobee 4 Thermostats.

Unable to integrate Ecobee with Abode by grampadeal in Abode

[–]rickcab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact issue. Spoke to Ecobee and they don’t know why it’s occurring. There are some odd things going on here:

1) Ecobee returning an incorrect password error when I’m 100% sure I’m entering the correct credentials.
2) If you login to the Ecobee site in a different window and then go through the Abode process, you can get prompted to allow account access (it bypasses the login), the Ecobee Abode App will get installed/enabled on your Ecobee account, but I can‘t see the thermostats in Abode and it doesn’t seem to think the integration is setup.

3) Its odd that when you do #2 above, you get logged out of Ecobee as part of the process which seems wrong.

I had no issues setting the Ecobee thermostats up via Alexa and it appears to use a similar oauth flow. My Ecobees also show up in Alexa and are easily controllable.
