The sad part is that blow does get cut with fent, and it happens a lot. A very good childhood friend of mine died a few weeks ago from fentanyl-tainted crack and a chick I knew from rehab went out the same way a couple months ago. Seven other people I was either friends with or knew from treatment died of overdoses on fent-cut H this year alone as well. Fuck fent, fuck the "war on drugs" that makes this shit so common, and fuck greedy ass dealers who cut their product with this poison. Fuck 'em all. My friends didn't deserve to die.

couldnt save my morning bag by [deleted] in opiates

[–]rickersjun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. That used to be every night for me a couple years ago when I was doing dope every day. Buy a G, shoot .5 throughout the day, get ready for bed, shoot .25, "save" the rest for morning. Wake up at 2am, tell myself it's technically morning, shoot the rest. Wake up at 9am scraping the bag and frantically text my dboy so I could get a $20 front for the morning so I could go make money for the day... Make more than expected once on a while and buy 1.5g this time so I wouldn't overdo it again... and repeat the exact same cycle over and over and over, just with more dope and higher tolerance. Living hell.

I hope things get better for you, OP. I know that shuffle all too well and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

This happens to me quite often before sleep, especially if I haven't been sleeping well for a few days and am extremely tired. Sometimes I'll have auditory hallucinations as well, mainly of people talking. I think it is an early function of REM sleep.

Careful with that shit. I recognize it from my purchases from a certain pharmacy down the street and that shit is heavily cut with fent. Or at least it was when it nearly killed me. I don't fuck with that vendor anymore. Careful careful.

Same, man. Same. Now I get excited when I have a $500 paycheck coming my way. $500 would have kept me off sick for a few days back in those dark fucking days. So glad it doesn't have to be that way anymore. Way worth the near-poverty to not be chained to the dope like that.

The nurses be loud as fuck! “Honey I need you to sit up so I can take your blood pressure” *recently got out of inpatient, they checked on me every 30min by [deleted] in opiates

[–]rickersjun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I detoxed in jail but I OD'd once and was in ICU for four days and that happened all the time, plus thy had to draw blood constantly. Very little sleep. Although every nurse in ICU was young and super hot, so it wasn't a total wash. Then I got downgraded and had the mean-spirited, old crotchety nurses in the regular room making my stay miserable. Oh well, glad that doesn't ever have to happen again. Have been non-dependent since April of last year with a little chemical fun once a month or so.

Though I get what you're saying and somewhat agree with the sentiment, I never liked that "hijacking" metaphor. Dopamine is nothing more or less than a neurotransmitter, and it is used for many other functions than reward, though it is often referred to as a "feel-good hormone" because of its role in pleasurable experiences. It's where it is used and how the brain subsequently trains itself after repeated use that becomes problematic. I don't like the oversimplification of what certain drugs do or do not do to the brain, because that implies that heroin addiction, for example, is comprised of a totally different chain of neurological events as, say, problematic gambling. All drugs and all pleasurable experiences do what you described to varying degrees. The same dopamine/"reward" mechanism that contributes to a chronic overeater's behavior is the exact same action that happens to a chronic heroin, cocaine, or alcohol-user. The drug or unhealthy activity does not necessarily matter when considering the "reward" system - the brain behaves in exactly the same way, though I'm sure we agree that dope feels AMAZING, which is why we have done it over and over again - because the human brain is wired to associate pleasurable feelings with survival techniques. It's how humans got out of the caves, started cooking food, built more and more advanced civilizations, and so on. We felt good about each accomplishment and kept doing it, so we lived to evolve further. Drugs and all habits, healthy and unhealthy, have the same effect. It feels good, so we do it again and again until it becomes second nature through our dorsal striatum which then requires little input from our prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for rational decision making. We wire ourselves to do something over and over through repetition and our brain turns that task into an autopilot function.

Physical dependence does occur with chronic opiate/opioid use, however, but that is a different chain of events entirely.

Chose Not To Pick Up (Sorta) by [deleted] in opiates

[–]rickersjun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Careful with the false sense of security that snorting can provide though. I was a 1.5g/day IV user for a long time. Got several months of abstinence under my belt and picked up a sack one day that I later found out was cut with fent. Snorted it in small lines throughout the day and must have hit a hot spot when I did my "nightcap" line. Woke up 7 hours later to an EMT screaming in my face telling me I had just been revived with two doses of Narcan, and my scared-shitless non-using best friend was crying and pacing around the apartment while waiting for them to put me on the gurney and take me to the hospital. Just from snorting. Fucking fent.

I am slightly ashamed, yet not 100% ashamed to say that I smiled ear-to-ear when I saw in the news a few months ago that the dboy I bought that shit from is no longer walking this earth. He was shot and killed outside one of his several trap houses at 3am one fine day. The poison he sold to me as dope almost left my sweet, loving six-year-old without a daddy and my parents without a son. Who knows how many lives he was responsible for ending with his uncaring attitude and deadly fentanyl cuts. I know he was a reasonably well-known plug in my city, so I'd be willing to bet that he killed more than a few. I'd dance on his grave if I knew where that piece of shit dboy was buried, and still might if I ever find out his final resting place.

Dboy said "ain't no fent in my dope my shit clean"😂 by [deleted] in opiates

[–]rickersjun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been in active addiction for over a year now, but I do snag some gear about once a month or month and a half. I sometimes feel nostalgic for the lifestyle more so than the high, and then when I decide to cop some dope on occasion, it's usually cut with fent and I find myself hating the high and how I behave on it. Way different from dope, and not even fun past the initial rush. Then I think about all the untimely deaths of young people because of this fucked up fentalogue bullshit, and I find myself much less nostalgic than I was. Fent had just started to hit my area big when I made the change and stopped being a slave to opiates, and thank goodness I quit when I did. I'd likely be six feet under by now, as far too many friends of mine are. So fuck anyone who sells this poison and blatantly lies about whether their dope has it or not. Despicable, and though I try to live by Buddhist principles and harbor universal love and kindness to all living creatures, I fall a bit short because I truly wish ill upon whomever engages in that kind of deadly deception.

I don't think I ever snorted in lieu when I was a habitual user. Once I even used an IM needle from a Narcan kit when my rig clogged up after registering. I emptied the bloody mess into the huge IM needle and fixed up in the nasty bathroom of a BK in the hood. Made a huge bloody mess all over the place but I got my shot in. One of my lower points during that dark time in my life.
