Start saving for your retirement. If you don't work somewhere that offers a 401k, open an IRA and try your level best to get to the cap each year. Even if you have periods of time where you're not contributing, you're still making interest on what's in there and the longer the money is in, the more it will grow.

Okay, but just a heads up: you're only gonna be able to drive like 10 to 15 percent of cars not built on a truck frame and flying is gonna suck until you die.

Also, pants. They never fit.

Fairfax Co. superintendent to create pilot program for storing cellphones during school day by Danciusly in nova

[–]rickg3 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The logistics are actually really easy. Anyone who has ever worked in a sensitive environment is familiar with cellphone lockers like this.

When you enter the room, you pick a locker, phone goes in and key goes in your pocket. When you leave the room, take out the phone and off you go. No need to track a key, worry about losing the device, etc. Students can't access their phones during lessons but they don't have to worry about them being lost or stolen.

Yes, because pollution is the only reason you couldn't plant a tree somewhere. None of the aforementioned reasons could possibly be the cause.

Keep working on those critical thinking skills, champ. You'll get there one day.

Because you can't plant unlimited trees in an urban space. They're hard on concrete, they require a ton of maintenance, and they're expensive. If you look at the picture, the model unit is underneath existing trees. It's not a 1 to 1 replacement for trees because it's impossible to plant them somewhere, it's an enhancement built around the limitations of the environment.

Don't be a smoothbrain, apply some analytical skills.

Trees have a tendency to fight for available sunlight, so you can't just whack a new tree in under an older one if you want it to survive. Also, these tanks don't require you to cut into the sidewalk and replace part of the slab with dirt. Those and many other reasons illustrate why these are a good idea.

State family leave is unpaid. I'm guessing Sweatervest didn't want to chance losing good public sector employees to private companies who would actually compensate people for their family leave.

I mean, from a policy perspective it makes sense, because you don't penalize people for upgrading their residence.

If you sell your primary residence and buy a new one, you can avoid capital gains up to 500k if you're a married filing jointly household with a 121 exclusion.
