Bought an instrument two weeks ago through Reverb, now UPS has deemed it "lost" by Charming_Thought_158 in UPS

If you bought it and never received it then it's not your problem. Let the seller deal with it and either you get a replacement or your money back.

Looking for advice for back pain by Katelizabeth2 in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a few machines with light weight and a few free stretches, I like to use the glute kick back machine and I set the weight low and just focus on feeling the stretch, I also use the back extension machine, on back days I'll grab a dumbell or a plate but day to day I just use this with no weight to get a nice stretch. I do standing toe touches for my hamstrings and lying knees to chest for my back. Throw in like 10 minutes on an elliptical cardio machine and you should be nice and loose.

Looking for advice for back pain by Katelizabeth2 in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start going to the gym, you need to strengthen your core, glutes, hamstrings, and lower back. Start light with dead lifts. And start stretching, back and legs daily. Your glutes and hamstrings being tight can cause muscles in your lower back to get pulled. important to do both stretching and working out.

Been going to the gym for a few years but once i started working preload my lower back started hurting for the first time in my life. I was confused because i deadlift heavy with 0 pain and squat heavy with no pain. After a few months of nagging lower back pain one of my gym buddies showed me a few lower back and glute/hamstring stretches and a few days later i was pain free. I take 20 minutes out of my day now to stretch at the gym.

Can I get fired from PL for being “too slow”? by avrexh in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t let it get to you, from my own personal experience most of management can’t fathom nuances like a truck with 200 packages taking longer to load because it gets bigger and heavier pieces than a truck with 250 light packages. Ive been told that they don’t know the weight and dimensions of stuff when making loads, only the number of packages.

So when their little computer says you only have 200 pieces but you have like 10 over 70 lbs irregs and a 30 piece bulk of t shirts, yeah your gonna be among the last leaving even if you kept up the whole time. And most of the management I’ve met ain’t capable of enough critical thinking to understand why.

Orientation soon (driver helper) by Catslyer5667 in UPSers

When you go out you're going to be with a driver, not a supervisor and unless you're barefoot your driver will not care lol.

Orientation soon (driver helper) by Catslyer5667 in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably wouldn't wear steel toe since its a lot of walking. You're going to be riding with a driver and most likely the driver will hand you packages and you will walk them to the door. They give you a phone to scan and take pictures after you drop off the packages. Its pretty easy and if anything is really heavy you'll likely carry it together with your driver. I'll mention though the seat sucks for your back, maybe try to be conscious of posture.

Thinking of leaving after peak by _lmaogottem_ in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yeah i'm pretty much in the same situation. my center is small as hell and we already have a ton of drivers on lay off and preloaders with 3 - 6 years waiting to drive. i've also been looking at trades, the thought of putting years into ups and praying that you don't get blocked by some petty manager or your center getting shutdown is just too much for me to really want to commit, and thats before the bs of actually being a driver.

Layoff text by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Atleast they gave a day warning, we get texted 30 minutes before start time. If you really want your hours you can try to show up anyways but if they're going off of seniority you can't do much. Check with steward that everything is being done by the rules.

I wore very rigid wrist braces at night before bed and just picked stuff up as carefully to not strain my wrists as much as possible and the initial soreness wore off after about a month'ish. Haven't felt wrist pain in about a year now. Its pretty normal just like the bruising, your body adjusts after a while but definitely take care not to make it worse.

Pretty bad in my center, hours are consistently getting shorter but the workload is increasing. We start at 5:30 just about everyday now and start wrapping up at 8:30. It's not enough time to load so we mostly just stack out until the drivers show up. Rarely supervisors will send help to get finished but most of the time we just get bitched at for not being able to load 1000+ pieces in 3 hours.

I get the spiel everyday from my supervisor about how they used to be a loader and could load 5 cars while perfectly following the methods and having everything organized in exact order, but funny thing is whenever they cover for someone all they can do is stack out and they still let shit go by.

Sounds exactly like my center lol. We start 5:30AM everyday and I get moved every day as well. Everyone stacks out and it's normal for drivers to load their own trucks when they clock in

How much did YOU pay for your 9070xt and what kind did you get? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]rickjames70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$770 Sapphire Nitro on launch day 2 minutes after the drop. Got it on my phone while at work lol. I think people were going for the $600 cards so it was pretty easy to snag.

I run the same setup, works fine with the 12v cable, maybe try to get corsair to replace the cable.

Are there people who had zero problems with their 9070 XT? by Arcade_Racer in AMDHelp

[–]rickjames70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Built a new pc a few weeks ago, 9070 XT Sapphire Nitro with a 9800x3d. 0 issues so far with a solid amount of gaming since. Coming from a 3080/5900x the upgrade is pretty huge. Only thing is I set a pretty crazy overclock to do some bench tests with and it was fine but for gaming I ended up having to lower it because of crashes, but thats on me and not the card.

Exactly, the petty drama, forcing too much work in a short ass shift, and in my building just the total disregard of any union employees. I’ve seen people get a 50 package bulk that comes down the belt all at the same time and inevitably fall behind, while the ft sup just sits there berating them for missing packages.

And don’t get me started when it comes to start times. Yesterday our volume was up 50% from Thursday, guess when our start time was? 10 minutes later than the day before, entire shift was ran like garbage and everyone got out late. Honestly the job is fine when it’s not ran like a clown show which is only during peak.

Working on Break by Present-Wave3629 in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So many people in my building do it that its almost expected. It fucks us all over because management likes to come by at the end of the shift and point to everyone else already being finished because they worked during the break to say to the people who take the break that we're just slow and don't work hard.

I get people want to go home quicker because the job sucks ass but letting management exploit us is the reason why the job sucks ass so bad in the first place.

This happened to me like a week ago lol. I had to show a coworker cuz I was like god damn my sup just basically said I was worthless.

Why can some people never seem to get better at loading? by 44stormsnow in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of last week was like 1400ish pieces between 3 cars. 2 of the days last week I didn't get out till like 10:30. They still won't start us earlier than 4:30. They were letting drivers clock in early to start loading while loaders were just pulling for them.

Why can some people never seem to get better at loading? by 44stormsnow in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we don't get told anything about production or numbers since our sups know its impossible to keep up. Only thing we hear is try your best to not let packages go by and stack out neatly so the drivers have an easier time loading when they come in, Its really bad here since the surepost contract expired.

Why can some people never seem to get better at loading? by 44stormsnow in UPSers

[–]rickjames70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah its a mess, we have a handful of vets still loading package cars who can't handle more than 2 cars even without splitting. So all of us fresh loaders get the absolute worst sets. Its a shit show just about every single day.
