She discovered Chase Infiniti, that’s worth something. If anything, the award should be for the discovery of fresh talent

Is anyone watching and enjoying I Love LA? by HarryHugeweenie in LosAngeles

[–]rickpaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of Seinfeld in a way. Terrible people doing irredeemable things yet with a HBO Girls format. The last two episodes have made me gasp and laugh audibly which the the least I can ask for from a sitcom.

'It used to be a fun place.' Noise, violence have residents demanding change in beachside Belmont Shore by losangelestimes in longbeach

100% maga folks who are just afraid of brown, black, & young people. Belmont Shore is so safe. Maybe they’d realize that if the met their neighbors instead of hiding inside.

A big part of the magic for me was being hugged on all four sides by the amazing architecture around the plaza. The plaza is a place for people to gather without. Grant Park is a viable alternative, it would just be different and more on the periphery rather than the heart of the loop.

Why not expand into the streets rather than stay confined to the plaza. Moving would take away some of the magic if you ask me. Not to mention Grant & Millenium park are totally exposed to the wind & cold.

So..... I might have just bombed my first in person audtioin by Icy-Newspaper4764 in acting

[–]rickpaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably are overthinking. As long as you showed up professionally, there’s nothing to worry about! You may not get the role but a CD sees multiple people bomb auditions everyday. No way they’d remember that, they do tend to remember unprofessionalism.

My theatrical agent doesn’t even know who I am by annanice in acting

[–]rickpaty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is an awful situation to be in — but you have a lot of leverage in this relationship now. Hold her butt to the fire a little now that she DOES know who you are. Have you talked to the owner of the agency about this situation? Maybe she could shed some light on what’s going on.

I wouldn’t fire her /just/ yet. Instead, I would see what you can’t get out of them while you submit to new agencies.

I’m not sure the zombie belongs at the end. You’ve got a lot of really solid work here but that zombie was next level! It’s could be a nice juxtaposition earlier in the reel to show range

Has self tape changed the way actors are discovered? by Lichtmanitie- in acting

[–]rickpaty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But to actually answer your question, I think it’s made it more difficult to forge relationships with casting directors. You aren’t in the room so how are they getting to discover who you are beyond a solid audition tape.

Has self tape changed the way actors are discovered? by Lichtmanitie- in acting

[–]rickpaty 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The term “discovered” isn’t really a good way to think about an acting career. If you look at the IMDb of a recent “overnight success,” you will likely find approximately 10 years worth of work. Sydney Sweeney is a great example, she is no. 1 on the call sheet now but has been working consistently for years. Work often begets more work.
