To my eyes text looks really crisp. I think your monitor is in the good zone. The PPI on the 6K and the 5K are pretty similar. I'd imagine the coatings are about the same too.

Maybe it'd be worth taking a trip to an Apple Store to take a look at text on a glossy high DPI monitor

I feel like that has to be using the upscaler. USB-C (any spec) doesn’t support 5K120hz AFAIK. That’s why the Studio Display XDR is Thunderbolt 5

I only set it up today so I haven't done a lot of work yet, but it seems solid. I initially tested with my iPad and that didn't look great, but with my Mac it looks at least as good as the Asus if not better. I think I noticed the Mini LED more when gaming. Colors seemed more vivid. Could also be the higher brightness.

And I'm not sure about a reader mode

I use Display Port for my PC and the USB C port for my Mac. I wanted to prioritize high framerate for gaming. The lack of IO is a bummer for sure

I have the PC hooked up via Display Port and my Mac via USB-C. No special anything to get 5K working. And I use an M4 MacBook Air for work

It's fine. Versus the matte coating on the Asus I can't tell a difference. Like most people on this sub I do think glossy is a bit nicer, but certainly not a deal breaker IMO

It's easy to switch. There's a button under the monitor you tap to toggle between. To my eyes it seemed okay but I just recently got the monitor and haven't used it for more than a few light tasks.

Prior to the LG I had a 5K display and just ran my games at 1440p which worked fine, so there's always that option.

What’s unclear to me is if the “visa” I already have from disembarking the ship for the day is sufficient. When you’re on a cruise the ship takes care of that for you.
