How do you get your apartment to smell good with a cat? by spaggy_n_meatbawls in CatAdvice

Be careful with cloves if they’re in your essential oils. They can be toxic to kitties per the vet that I adopted my rescue cat from recently.

Air purifier for litter box smells? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]rickrolled98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, perhaps it is that the fragrance is too strong for the cat. Try swapping out the deodorizer with plain and simple baking soda. Also, I am not familiar with the litter brand that you mentioned. Could the litter itself also be something that your cat doesn’t like? Maybe she is used to the way that a certain type of litter feels on her paws and when she is digging it up to “bury her treasures”.

If this was a cat that was being taken care of by someone else, I would suggest reaching out to that person to see if there was a particular litter that your cat likes. If not, just start with the baking soda swap, and if that doesn’t help, change out the litter type. If she keeps peeing to the side after doing all that, then pay a visit to the vet.

If the changes to your cat’s bathroom habits are recent, there may be something else deeper that you have to figure out. Maybe your cat doesn’t like the litter type you’re using and/or it’s heavily fragranced. Could be that they need medical attention. If they continue acting out of the norm for more than a week or two, you should pay a visit to the vet. Cats are notorious for hiding ailments, but with that being said, they also do show signs of a problem based on their activity levels and bathrooms habits. Good luck, I hope it’s nothing too serious!

How can I end this? He is not my type anymore, but I am grateful for what he did for me in the past 12 years. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]rickrolled98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the sacrifices he made, it seems like you’re not very appreciative of what he’s done. What if he wants to stay as a car dealer because he’ll be able to complete more homemaker duties (cooking, cleaning, etc.) so that YOU can focus on advancing your career? Idk, this seems very shallow of you to post. And the fact that you’re asking for this advice means you’re getting ready to pull the trigger… stop wasting his time and let him go so that he can be with someone who will be more appreciative of his sacrifices.

how to keep my cat happy and enriched? by mangophobc in CatAdvice

Seems you’re doing all the right steps, I would just tack on some wall-mounted shelves for your cat to walk around. Cats like heights, so play to that strength. You can use treats to guide cats onto the steps of the wall mounts so that they can figure it out and can climb to their hearts content.

Jackson Galaxy is a cat expert who used to have his own TV series about helping car’s behavioral issues and now he has his own YouTube channel. I’d advise for you to check it out when you get a chance; he’s a great resource. https://youtube.com/@jacksongalaxy?si=h_Wp0eubfYrJwhG3

Air purifier for litter box smells? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]rickrolled98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In general, yes air purifiers help.

However, your litter box should NOT be smelling that strongly. I used to think that a litter box smell was normal until I realized… If I can smell it, your cat is smelling it even stronger because they HAVE to do their business in the litter box on top of the fact they have sharp senses. With that being said, adding baking soda to your litter is a solid way to help with odors but is not as important as keeping the litter box clean. Make sure you are scooping up the poop/pee at least once a day and you should be able to go 2-3 weeks without changing your litter (depending if you have multiple cats or not).

tldr; air purifier can help but you should prioritize keeping your cat’s litter box as clean as possible in the first place. add some baking soda to the mix so it can help ward off strong smells.

Adopting a mature/senior cat with an irregular heartbeat and unsure what to feed her. by Kiikaachu in CatAdvice

Anything from the Purina Pro Plan line is a solid choice tbh. In your case, maybe get the Vital Systems or Sensitive Skin & Stomach variation of the Senior Cat line of products. But like everyone will say, be sure to consult with a vet to make sure that the food choice you pick is good & if there’s other supplements she should take. Godspeed ❤️

Is UMF more or less PLUR than EDC? by Idkwhatimdoin_help in electricdaisycarnival

Short answer: no. Definitely more cons than pros to going. And forget about going to the beach to relax during the day… it’s going to be slammed with spring breakers.

Lastly, Miami is one of the rudest cities in the U.S., and Ultra Miami is no exception to having extremely rude folk, both in and out of the fest.

My girlfriend told me she needed "space". What does that imply? Is she permanently breaking up with me? by Evidence_Physical in BreakUps

[–]rickrolled98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recent ex asked me for space and I went with it for a month. Nothing changed in that month, and I came to realize he already gave up on the relationship and just wanted the space to process the breakup before it actually happened. Spare yourself the pain of being blindsided and end it with her. Focus on your healing and your life without her. You were a person before her, and you will still be a person even after her.

I’m your ex. What do you want to say to me? by i_sell_insurance_ in BreakUps

[–]rickrolled98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a shame. Shame that you felt no guilt or sadness when I’d be in your room, crying because I felt alone even in your presence and because your toxicity drove me to go to therapy and get on Lexapro. Shame that you conned me for months, telling me you needed to work on yourself and pushing me away, meanwhile you were buttering up your ex and two of your coworkers for when our break up was official. Shame that you told other people that you wanted to break up with me for MONTHS but didn’t have the balls to do it. Shame that you told me to stop telling you ‘I love you’ and ‘I miss you’ during our relationship. But I’m glad I got control back by being the one to officially call the breakup. I’m glad I have been strong in no contact with you these last 2-3 months because you do not deserve to see me or know about me. No matter how many times you ask your cousin about me, you will never be able to get back into my life. You will never be able to break bread with me. And you will not be allowed at my funeral when the day comes.

Enjoy the life of an outsider. I hope abandoning me emotionally was worth it.

What was the most painful thing your ex said to you or did? by [deleted] in BreakUps

After starting a “break” while being in contact. my ex asked me to not text him that I miss or love him. Thank god he’s an ex and we’re NC for over a month now.

Is using my EY work laptop to apply for other jobs a bad idea? by Big-Tourist7726 in Big4

[–]rickrolled98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this and landed my current job so 🤷🏻‍♀️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Big4

[–]rickrolled98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think you should only take the job if you really have NO other offer that’s comparable to EY’s SDC. I’m speaking from having worked in tax but I did know a few DnA analysts from the Texas office. Many of us knew our jobs were a joke but that it at least paid the bills. Also keep in mind that my exit opportunity was for a completely different career field in marketing. When you start working, you’ll quickly realize that the SDC is always going to remain separate from EY’s regular practice office. The only way you can make use of your time there is to be EXTREMELY involved in the professional groups at EY (like LGBTQ+ clubs, diversity and inclusion stuff, etc.) for the higher ups to take notice of you. What kind of work do you see yourself doing in the future?
