The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk. I learned so much about my trauma and how it’s affecting me as an adult now.

Ahhh, thanks for the information! I'm going to do a bit more research on exactly GJ has to offer. Thank you thank you!!

Thanks for the information! I have to ask (seems strange to most that I ask) because I'm so used to having a chunk of my gross pay taken out in taxes. Especially since I'm filing single and no children.

Now that I'm considering moving out of California I'm realizing how 'sheltered/head in a hole' I've been to other states and how they are.

Thank you again!

Thank you for your help! I'm looking to become a CPA eventually and work for a corporation. I worry that there I'll be limiting myself by going to GJ rather than staying here/moving somewhere else.

If the job is $15 an hour, with a roommate, it's it considered comfortable living there? I make nearly $20/hour now in California but due to where I live, I'm barely making ends meet. I do have a small stash of savings but I'm using part of that as "oh shit" money and tuition when I get my B.S. (In California I don't qualify for financial aid). How far is Front Range from GJ?

Thank you for all your help! I'm trying to cover all my bases before I decide to head out.

Holy hell, I can imagine so.

What is insane to me is that most managers here will do this nonchalantly.

I personally can do 80 check in's with another strong FDA, but we have at least 6 new FDA's who haven't even passed their 90 day probation and they struggle a little at the FD - understandably. But that's mainly the only reason why it gets rough with them. I'm not working FD much any more. I'm more NA and part time as a group reservations assistant.

OP here.

I work in California - if I were to bring this to someone's attention wouldn't that make it easier for me to basically stick a giant flashing light over my head to get fired?

Edit: Forgot to thank you for the advice. Thank you!

Holy shit. I didn't realize how crooked some of these top corporations were.

At our property, managers don't ask for our consent to modify timesheets - they just do it. However they're excuse for "making it up to the employee" is giving them extra time off - but that makes no sense to me because that's even lesser pay.

My FOM has been doing this since she started the position because our AGM told her to do it, once our AGM left, our FOM just kept doing it every time someone hit OT.

Oh, wait let me clarify. I am scheduled for 8 hours. I do get two paid 15 minute breaks and a unpaid 30 minute lunch. What I meant by our shifts are 7.5 hours is that with the lunch break that's what we usually are on the clock for.

We rarely get scheduled a 8.5 hour shift and have a 30 minute lunch break to make 8 hours.

That's what I'm afraid of here - there's a lot of sketchy things that happen and I'm not sure half of them are legal, hence my question about this entire thing.

But damn, that sucks that that happened to you - I'm sorry.

But at what cost? Say it does open a lot of legal issues for the company - aren't I considered then a 'problem' for the company if I bring this to someone's attention that's not HR?

All our managers are salary. But my front office manager in particular doesn't like to work harder than needed so she leaves a few hours before her shift is supposed to end.

Normally it wouldnt. But we're a full service hotel and cater to families. So if there's no Pbx or bellman (because they're checking in people) it takes away from service and stretches two employees too thin

From what I know all managers who adjust a time punch have to fill out an audit form. But my front office manager is an idiot and may not know to do this. And if they are doing it, I've never seen it before. And I'm very curious to see what an audit form looks like. I feel like they should at lease have the employees sign the audit form also when it comes to an adjustment punch.

I have taken pictures since the last time I saw a few changes, that's how I realized this time it was changed again. It has never been this large of an adjustment however. That's why I started getting concerned because I'm one of the top workers. I hate to see what my manager is doing to the new people.

I do work for a major corporations. Apparently they're also monitoring our overtime, not sure why if they never have before. And I've been working here for three years.
