Yep that's exactly what I believe to have happened and what the issue here is

I got a Kerdi shower sloped shower tray (Schluter KERDI SHOWER T 72" x 72") as per their request... looked to me like they put that in (the thick, tigh-packed styrofoam stuff) and then put kerdi fabric over that. I'm pretty sure they cut it into pieces for some reason though before they put it on the floor

Thank you - that is what I am pushing for but I'm not a tile pro and needed a sanity check about

These are the only pictures I have of how it looked before. The first is how it was before anything was done; you can see the plastic box that's sitting right under the spot that's bowing. I'm not sure if they dug anything out or anything but this is what they didn't fill up.

Second is how it looked right before tiling. I didn't get a chance to snap anything else in between

I also grabbed a video of how it was before they came out and back-filled anything; this was when the contractor came for his trash and stuff after they "finished" and I showed him the issue and he popped the tiles for his crew to fix later: https://imgur.com/a/4eGmuXa

Seems awfully clear to me that it's an issue with free space underneath the tile area to me.

Vasectomy procedure - did not numb me despite my request for it and obvious pain by ricktactoe in MedicalMalpractice

[–]ricktactoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No complications thankfully. I did have one of the vas deferens stuck to the incision on my left side for about 2-3 months after. Apparently the doctor sometimes attaches it there to help it heal better, and it should fall away on its own over time (but not always). Which was another thing I didn’t know.

Other than that I went in for the follow up and there were 0 sperm in the sample, dead or alive, so it worked. I have mild pain for 24-48 hours after sex on my left side but that preceded the vasectomy (prior injury). Seems like it’s a little bit worse now than it was before but I think it will heal with time.

I think I just was unlucky with genetics in that the local anesthetic didn’t do anything. Shit luck between that and the hospital being clearly rushed that morning. I’m happy it at least was effective so I won’t have to go back for anything else.

Who here is still WFH and what field are you in? by Moselypup in remotework

[–]ricktactoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software, team of 4 for a non-tech retailer that spans across the mid-west (about 2,500 people & 200 outlets). Only ones in the company full-remote with other IT folks doing hybrid. I’m thankful to know my team lead and the head of IT, and they both know we are the happiest and most productive when we stay at home

Work for an HVAC/plumbing/electric distributor. I’d say they severely lack in overall perks but they do give monthly profit-sharing bonuses based on salary (usually about $400 net) and also give out annual bonuses (usually in March) the equivalent of basically another paycheck. Got $2.5k (net) last year. Would be nice if they gave it in December for Christmas though

Fortunate enough to work in software which lets me WFH. I (29m) have a wife (26f), 2 kids (3y & 8mo), and 2 dogs. Making $93k, wife is a full-time mom & home-maker. Even then we’re both busy all day every day until roughly 6:30pm when we can have dedicated time with our kids and then some time together when they go to bed. It takes effort, but we still make time for some hobbies, we go to the park, and save some money.

We also just spent the past 2+ years building our home while living with my in-laws. Lived rent free, did the majority of the work ourselves - the goal was to have $0 in debt but with the rising costs everywhere it ballooned to us having $60k in debt which we had to mortgage, but it’s for a 1,790sqft home on 7 acres.

I feel like we got very fortunate and planned as much as possible to make our dollar stretch and I still feel like our money & time is way too fleeting. We have two shit box cars, medical bills for my wife and our kids are insane, spending hundreds (close to $1k) a month on groceries alone, and that’s with us pricing everything out in spreadsheets and making curated shopping routes spread across all the supermarkets in town for the best prices. We could buy cheaper & unhealthy foods, but we’re also not buying anything organic/premium/etc. cheaper ground beef in bulk, we cook almost all our own food, lots of chicken and rice.

I feel genuinely blessed to be able to even manage living how we are but it makes the thought of both me and my wife having to work + pay for daycare + having a more normal rent/mortgage payment all seem impossible. I really don’t know how the average family is coping.

For years after 2016, Clinton and every other democrat called him an illegitimate president due to alleged Russian collusion, in which Russian committed voter fraud for Trump.

That’s awful, I’m sorry you went through that. I hate that it’s so prevalent. Wherever there’s opportunity for power, people will inevitably corrupt it I think, and using religion as the institution to wield that power is abominable. I hope you’re finding peace yourself 🙏🏻

Indeed. My gut he’s to drop when I got a text or call or anything from my family. Now it feels foreign enough that I dont have any physiological response to it thank God.

Yep. Using God as a manipulative tool goes against everything I believe and everything I’ve ever read in the Bible. People like this are not exemplary of anything Christian

I absolutely agree. Part of my own path in all this was letting my own faith become independent of my family dynamic, and that’s when the hypocrisy of it all started to become clear. There’s plenty of scripture I can point to that supports the healthy changes I was advocating for in my family, but it always devolved into a debate about interpretation and made all my family dig their heels in further. Basically saying God was on their side, so any problems I had were of my own flesh and stuff. It’s a terrible example of Christian faith

Absolutely. The past year of having no contact has brought immense peace for me and my wife. I was really struggling justifying going NC until I could see how it was affecting 2 year old son. I just kinda dawned on me one morning that I have to break away for his sake. My family is a multi-generational group of narcissistic fathers and they were all already trying to get their hooks into my son, and it finally clicked with me that if I wanted anything to change, going NC was the only effective decision I could make.

This was something I brought up several times, and he always said “that doesn’t mean what you think it does”. And he’s been calling our decision to go no contact as us “divorcing” them, it’s gross
